Away (3/4)

  • The memory of the just is blessed:
    but the name of the wicked shall rot.
  • Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them.
  • O Lord, thou hast searched me, and known me.
    Thou knowest my downsitting and mine uprising,
    thou understandest my thought afar off.
  • Repent, and turn yourselves from all your transgressions; so iniquity shall not be your ruin.
  • And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner.
  • So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation.
  • For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection: Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.
  • Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls.
  • Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.
  • If thou turn away thy foot from the sabbath,
    from doing thy pleasure on my holy day;
    and call the sabbath a delight,
    the holy of the Lord, honourable;
    and shalt honour him, not doing thine own ways,
    nor finding thine own pleasure,
    nor speaking thine own words:
    Then shalt thou delight thyself in the Lord;
    and I will cause thee to ride upon the high places of the earth,
    and feed thee with the heritage of Jacob thy father:
    for the mouth of the Lord hath spoken it.
  • Have mercy upon me, O God,
    according to thy lovingkindness:
    according unto the multitude of thy tender mercies
    blot out my transgressions.
    Wash me throughly from mine iniquity,
    and cleanse me from my sin.
  • And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom. And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.
  • Behold, I come quickly: hold that fast which thou hast, that no man take thy crown.
  • I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil.
  • Prove all things; hold fast that which is good. Abstain from all appearance of evil.
  • He will turn again, he will have compassion upon us;
    he will subdue our iniquities;
    and thou wilt cast all their sins into the depths of the sea.
  • We have sinned, and have committed iniquity, and have done wickedly, and have rebelled, even by departing from thy precepts and from thy judgments.
  • Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.
  • And he was teaching in one of the synagogues on the sabbath. And, behold, there was a woman which had a spirit of infirmity eighteen years, and was bowed together, and could in no wise lift up herself. And when Jesus saw her, he called her to him, and said unto her, Woman, thou art loosed from thine infirmity. And he laid his hands on her: and immediately she was made straight, and glorified God. And the ruler of the synagogue answered with indignation, because that Jesus had healed on the sabbath day, and said unto the people, There are six days in which men ought to work: in them therefore come and be healed, and not on the sabbath day. The Lord then answered him, and said, Thou hypocrite, doth not each one of you on the sabbath loose his ox or his ass from the stall, and lead him away to watering? And ought not this woman, being a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan hath bound, lo, these eighteen years, be loosed from this bond on the sabbath day? And when he had said these things, all his adversaries were ashamed: and all the people rejoiced for all the glorious things that were done by him.
  • And every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible.
  • Flee also youthful lusts: but follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart.
  • But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.
  • Whither shall I go from thy spirit?
    or whither shall I flee from thy presence?
    If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there:
    if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there.
  • Have I any pleasure at all that the wicked should die? saith the Lord God: and not that he should return from his ways, and live?
  • But he knoweth the way that I take:
    when he hath tried me, I shall come forth as gold.
    My foot hath held his steps,
    his way have I kept, and not declined.

Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they?
