Comes (3/4)

  • It goes well for a person who is gracious and lends;
    He will maintain his cause in judgment.
  • But who am I and who are my people that we should be able to offer as generously as this? For all things come from You, and from Your hand we have given to You.
  • As for me, I baptize you with water for repentance, but He who is coming after me is mightier than I, and I am not fit to remove His sandals; He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.
  • The afflictions of the righteous are many,
    But the Lord rescues him from them all.
  • A person has joy in an apt answer,
    And how delightful is a timely word!
  • The Lord is good,
    A stronghold in the day of trouble,
    And He knows those who take refuge in Him.
  • Deceit is in the heart of those who devise evil,
    But counselors of peace have joy.
  • From the same mouth come both blessing and cursing. My brothers and sisters, these things should not be this way.
  • For since by a man death came, by a Man also came the resurrection of the dead.
  • The hope of the righteous is gladness,
    But the expectation of the wicked perishes.
  • For from Him, and through Him, and to Him are all things. To Him be the glory forever. Amen.
  • Rest in the Lord and wait patiently for Him;
    Do not get upset because of one who is successful in his way,
    Because of the person who carries out wicked schemes.
  • And the Lord will be King over all the earth; on that day the Lord will be the only one, and His name the only one.
  • Stand firm therefore, having belted your waist with truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having strapped on your feet the preparation of the gospel of peace; in addition to all, taking up the shield of faith with which you will be able to extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.
  • Every person is to be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those which exist are established by God.
  • May the Lord direct your hearts to the love of God and to the perseverance of Christ.
  • Let the peace of Christ, to which you were indeed called in one body, rule in your hearts; and be thankful.
  • For you have been born again not of seed which is perishable, but imperishable, that is, through the living and enduring word of God.
  • Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.
  • Behold, He is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see Him, even those who pierced Him; and all the tribes of the earth will mourn over Him. So it is to be. Amen.
  • Therefore, take up the full armor of God, so that you will be able to resist on the evil day, and having done everything, to stand firm.
  • The one who practices sin is of the devil; for the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The Son of God appeared for this purpose, to destroy the works of the devil.
  • If your brother sins, rebuke him; and if he repents, forgive him. And if he sins against you seven times a day, and returns to you seven times, saying, ‘I repent,’ you shall forgive him.
  • Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world.
  • And when they arrest you and hand you over, do not worry beforehand about what you are to say, but say whatever is given you at that time; for you are not the ones speaking, but it is the Holy Spirit.

Your adornment must not be merely the external—braiding the hair, wearing gold jewelry, or putting on apparel; but it should be the hidden person of the heart, with the imperishable quality of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is precious in the sight of God.

For if we believe that Jesus died and rose from the dead, so also God will bring with Him those who have fallen asleep through Jesus.
