Coming after me (3/4)

  • The end of all things is near. Therefore be alert and of sober mind so that you may pray.
  • To those who by persistence in doing good seek glory, honor and immortality, he will give eternal life.
  • Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near.
  • They said to you, “In the last times there will be scoffers who will follow their own ungodly desires.” These are the people who divide you, who follow mere natural instincts and do not have the Spirit.
  • They stripped him and put a scarlet robe on him, and then twisted together a crown of thorns and set it on his head. They put a staff in his right hand. Then they knelt in front of him and mocked him. “Hail, king of the Jews!” they said.
  • Do not lie to each other, since you have taken off your old self with its practices and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge in the image of its Creator.
  • When he comes, he will prove the world to be in the wrong about sin and righteousness and judgment.
  • Whoever pursues righteousness and love
    finds life, prosperity and honor.
  • You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.
  • Show me your ways, Lord,
    teach me your paths.
  • If you really change your ways and your actions and deal with each other justly, if you do not oppress the foreigner, the fatherless or the widow and do not shed innocent blood in this place, and if you do not follow other gods to your own harm, then I will let you live in this place, in the land I gave your ancestors for ever and ever.
  • There is nothing concealed that will not be disclosed, or hidden that will not be made known.
  • For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever.
  • This is how the birth of Jesus the Messiah came about: His mother Mary was pledged to be married to Joseph, but before they came together, she was found to be pregnant through the Holy Spirit.
  • Let us, therefore, make every effort to enter that rest, so that no one will perish by following their example of disobedience.
  • But you, man of God, flee from all this, and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance and gentleness.
  • Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this?”
  • Keep falsehood and lies far from me;
    give me neither poverty nor riches,
    but give me only my daily bread.
  • Those who live according to the flesh have their minds set on what the flesh desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires.
  • Then he took a cup, and when he had given thanks, he gave it to them, saying, “Drink from it, all of you. This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.”
  • Create in me a pure heart, O God,
    and renew a steadfast spirit within me.
  • Search me, God, and know my heart;
    test me and know my anxious thoughts.
    See if there is any offensive way in me,
    and lead me in the way everlasting.
  • I sought the Lord, and he answered me;
    he delivered me from all my fears.
  • Just as the living Father sent me and I live because of the Father, so the one who feeds on me will live because of me.
  • Go, gather together all the Jews who are in Susa, and fast for me. Do not eat or drink for three days, night or day. I and my attendants will fast as you do. When this is done, I will go to the king, even though it is against the law. And if I perish, I perish.

Very truly I tell you, whoever accepts anyone I send accepts me; and whoever accepts me accepts the one who sent me.

You, therefore, have no excuse, you who pass judgment on someone else, for at whatever point you judge another, you are condemning yourself, because you who pass judgment do the same things.

When you pass through the waters,
I will be with you;
and when you pass through the rivers,
they will not sweep over you.
When you walk through the fire,
you will not be burned;
the flames will not set you ablaze.
