- Without counsel, plans go wrong,
but with many advisers they succeed. - This also comes from the Lord of hosts;
he is wonderful in counsel,
and excellent in wisdom. - I will instruct you and teach you the way you should go;
I will counsel you with my eye upon you. - Deceit is in the mind of those who plan evil,
but those who counsel peace have joy. - Happy are those
who do not follow the advice of the wicked,
or take the path that sinners tread,
or sit in the seat of scoffers. - The human mind may devise many plans,
but it is the purpose of the Lord that will be established. - May he grant you your heart's desire,
and fulfill all your plans. - For a child has been born for us,
a son given to us;
authority rests upon his shoulders;
and he is named
Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. - Give heed to my reproof;
I will pour out my thoughts to you;
I will make my words known to you. - By insolence the heedless make strife,
but wisdom is with those who take advice. - Do not envy the violent
and do not choose any of their ways;
for the perverse are an abomination to the Lord,
but the upright are in his confidence. - Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly; teach and admonish one another in all wisdom; and with gratitude in your hearts sing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs to God.
- O Lord, you are my God;
I will exalt you, I will praise your name;
for you have done wonderful things,
plans formed of old, faithful and sure. - And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate, to be with you forever.
- When the Advocate comes, whom I will send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who comes from the Father, he will testify on my behalf.
- But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you everything, and remind you of all that I have said to you.
- Nevertheless I tell you the truth: it is to your advantage that I go away, for if I do not go away, the Advocate will not come to you; but if I go, I will send him to you.
So do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring worries of its own. Today's trouble is enough for today. Do not adorn yourselves outwardly by braiding your hair, and by wearing gold ornaments or fine clothing; rather, let your adornment be the inner self with the lasting beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is very precious in God's sight.Next verse!With image
