- I delight to do Your will, my God;
Your Law is within my heart. - For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh and the lust of the eyes and the boastful pride of life, is not from the Father, but is from the world.
- But those who want to get rich fall into temptation and a trap, and many foolish and harmful desires which plunge people into ruin and destruction.
- I have made a covenant with my eyes;
How then could I look at a virgin? - What is desirable in a person is his kindness,
And it is better to be a poor person than a liar. - The world is passing away and also its lusts; but the one who does the will of God continues to live forever.
- Those whom I love, I rebuke and discipline; therefore be zealous and repent.
- For,
“The one who desires life, to love and see good days,
Must keep his tongue from evil and his lips from speaking deceit.
He must turn away from evil and do good;
He must seek peace and pursue it.” - The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit;
A broken and a contrite heart, God, You will not despise. - You have been severed from Christ, you who are seeking to be justified by the Law; you have fallen from grace.
- In everything, therefore, treat people the same way you want them to treat you, for this is the Law and the Prophets.
- Therefore, I say to you, all things for which you pray and ask, believe that you have received them, and they will be granted to you.
- And sitting down, He called the twelve and said to them, “If anyone wants to be first, he shall be last of all and servant of all.”
- For the love of money is a root of all sorts of evil, and some by longing for it have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.
- For they exchanged the truth of God for falsehood, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen.
For this reason God gave them over to degrading passions; for their women exchanged natural relations for that which is contrary to nature, and likewise the men, too, abandoned natural relations with women and burned in their desire toward one another, males with males committing shameful acts and receiving in their own persons the due penalty of their error.
And just as they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God gave them up to a depraved mind, to do those things that are not proper. - Through these He has granted to us His precious and magnificent promises, so that by them you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world on account of lust.
