Bible Verses about 'Desire'

  • Whom do I have in heaven?
There is no one on earth whom I desire besides you.
  • May he grant you your heart’s desire,
    and fulfill all your counsel.
  • Yes, in the way of your judgments, Yahweh, we have waited for you.
Your name and your renown are the desire of our soul.
  • Lord, all my desire is before you.
My groaning is not hidden from you.
  • But you go and learn what this means: ‘I desire mercy, and not sacrifice,’ for I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.
  • Yes, and all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution.
  • Hope deferred makes the heart sick,
but when longing is fulfilled, it is a tree of life.
  • But I am hard pressed between the two, having the desire to depart and be with Christ, which is far better. Yet to remain in the flesh is more needful for your sake.
  • Abba, Father, all things are possible to you. Please remove this cup from me. However, not what I desire, but what you desire.
  • Put to death therefore your members which are on the earth: sexual immorality, uncleanness, depraved passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry.
  • If you remain in me, and my words remain in you, you will ask whatever you desire, and it will be done for you.
  • Father, I desire that they also whom you have given me be with me where I am, that they may see my glory which you have given me, for you loved me before the foundation of the world.
  • You are alienated from Christ, you who desire to be justified by the law. You have fallen away from grace.
  • Therefore, whatever you desire for men to do to you, you shall also do to them; for this is the law and the prophets.
  • As newborn babies, long for the pure spiritual milk, that with it you may grow.
  • You lust, and don’t have. You murder and covet, and can’t obtain. You fight and make war. You don’t have, because you don’t ask.
  • For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, that you may not do the things that you desire.
  • I delight to do your will, my God.
Yes, your law is within my heart.
  • For all that is in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—isn’t the Father’s, but is the world’s.
  • But those who are determined to be rich fall into a temptation, a snare, and many foolish and harmful lusts, such as drown men in ruin and destruction.
  • I made a covenant with my eyes;
how then should I look lustfully at a young woman?
  • That which makes a man to be desired is his kindness.
A poor man is better than a liar.
  • The world is passing away with its lusts, but he who does God’s will remains forever.
  • As many as I love, I reprove and chasten. Be zealous therefore, and repent.
  • For,
    “He who would love life
    and see good days,
let him keep his tongue from evil
and his lips from speaking deceit.
Let him turn away from evil and do good.
Let him seek peace and pursue it.”

The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit.
O God, you will not despise a broken and contrite heart.
