- Don’t repay evil for evil. Don’t retaliate with insults when people insult you. Instead, pay them back with a blessing. That is what God has called you to do, and he will grant you his blessing.
- But even if you suffer for doing what is right, God will reward you for it. So don’t worry or be afraid of their threats.
- Whatever you give is acceptable if you give it eagerly. And give according to what you have, not what you don’t have.
- For you are free, yet you are God’s slaves, so don’t use your freedom as an excuse to do evil.
- The Lord will work out his plans for my life—
for your faithful love, O Lord, endures forever.
Don’t abandon me, for you made me. - Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they don’t know what they are doing.” And the soldiers gambled for his clothes by throwing dice.
- See how very much our Father loves us, for he calls us his children, and that is what we are! But the people who belong to this world don’t recognize that we are God’s children because they don’t know him.
- But Jesus said, “Let the children come to me. Don’t stop them! For the Kingdom of Heaven belongs to those who are like these children.”
- O Lord, I have come to you for protection;
don’t let me be disgraced.
Save me, for you do what is right. - Don’t just pretend to love others. Really love them. Hate what is wrong. Hold tightly to what is good.
- When you make a promise to God, don’t delay in following through, for God takes no pleasure in fools. Keep all the promises you make to him.
- Don’t misunderstand why I have come. I did not come to abolish the law of Moses or the writings of the prophets. No, I came to accomplish their purpose.
- But don’t just listen to God’s word. You must do what it says. Otherwise, you are only fooling yourselves.
- When you pray, don’t babble on and on as the Gentiles do. They think their prayers are answered merely by repeating their words again and again.
- But in fact, it is best for you that I go away, because if I don’t, the Advocate won’t come. If I do go away, then I will send him to you.
- I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid.
- Don’t envy violent people
or copy their ways.
Such wicked people are detestable to the Lord,
but he offers his friendship to the godly. - Don’t team up with those who are unbelievers. How can righteousness be a partner with wickedness? How can light live with darkness?
- Don’t be afraid of those who want to kill your body; they cannot touch your soul. Fear only God, who can destroy both soul and body in hell.
- Be still in the presence of the Lord,
and wait patiently for him to act.
Don’t worry about evil people who prosper
or fret about their wicked schemes. - Hear my prayer, O Lord!
Listen to my cries for help!
Don’t ignore my tears.
For I am your guest—
a traveler passing through,
as my ancestors were before me. - Accept other believers who are weak in faith, and don’t argue with them about what they think is right or wrong.
- “Don’t be afraid, Mary,” the angel told her, “for you have found favor with God! You will conceive and give birth to a son, and you will name him Jesus.”
- Don’t be impressed with your own wisdom.
Instead, fear the Lord and turn away from evil.
Then you will have healing for your body
and strength for your bones. - Don’t love money; be satisfied with what you have. For God has said,
“I will never fail you.
I will never abandon you.”
