Ear (2/3)

  • In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was formless and barren, and darkness covered the abyss while the Spirit of God hovered over the waters.
  • Fix your thoughts on things that are above, not on things that are on the earth.
  • Be still and acknowledge that I am God,
    exalted among the nations,
    exalted on the earth.
  • Glory to God in the highest heaven,
and on earth peace to all those on whom his favor rests.
  • Whom do I have in heaven except you?
And besides you there is nothing else I desire on earth.
  • Can someone hide in a secret place
so that I cannot see him?
Do I not fill heaven and earth?
  • Because of this, God greatly exalted him
and bestowed on him the name
that is above all other names,
so that at the name of Jesus
    every knee should bend
of those in heaven and on earth and under the earth.
  • The face of the Lord is turned against those who do evil,
to erase all memory of them from the earth.
  • I will place my rainbow in the clouds and it will be a sign of the covenant between me and the earth.
  • God blessed them and told them, “Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth; subdue it and have dominion over the fish of the seas and over the birds of the air and over every living creature that moves upon the earth.”
  • Do not think that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I have not come to bring peace but a sword.
  • Then I heard every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and in the sea, and all that is in them, saying:
“To the one seated on the throne
    and to the Lamb
be blessing and honor and glory and might
    forever and ever.”
  • As the heavens are higher than the earth,
so are my ways higher than your ways
and my thoughts above your thoughts.
  • He builds his upper chambers in the heavens
and establishes his vault of the sky over the earth—
    the Lord is his name.
  • I lift up my eyes to the mountains;
from where will I receive help?
My help comes from the Lord,
the Maker of heaven and earth.
  • Ah, Lord God, you made the heavens and the earth by your great power and your outstretched arm. Nothing is impossible for you.
  • The Lord will become king over the whole earth. When that day comes, he will be the only Lord, and his name will be the only name.
  • Before the mountains were brought forth
or the earth and the world came into existence,
from everlasting to everlasting you are God.
  • So today acknowledge it and take it to heart that the Lord is God in the heavens above and on the earth below. There is no other.
  • Now, if you will obey my voice and keep my covenant, you will be my own possession from among all the peoples, for the entire earth is mine.
  • This is how you should pray:
    ‘Our Father in heaven,
    hallowed be your name.
    Your kingdom come.
    Your will be done
on earth as it is in heaven.’
  • Behold, he is coming with the clouds;
    every eye will see him,
    even those who pierced him.
All the peoples of the earth will mourn him.
    So shall it be. Amen.
  • For so has the Lord commanded us to do, saying,
‘I have made you a light for the Gentiles
so that you may bring salvation
to the farthest corners of the earth.’
  • Above all, my brethren, do not swear, either by heaven or by earth, or use any oaths at all. Let your “Yes” mean “Yes” and your “No” mean “No.” Otherwise you may be condemned.
  • And God said, “Behold, I give you every plant that produces seeds upon the earth and every tree that has fruit with its seed inside of it: these shall be your food.”

I will establish my covenant with you: never again will all living creatures be cut off by the waters of a flood, nor will the earth be laid waste by a flood again.
