Faith is the substance (3/4)

  • And he is the head of the body, the church. He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in everything he might be preeminent.
  • For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.
  • Blessed is the one
    whose transgression is forgiven,
    whose sin is covered.
  • Praise the Lord! Blessed is the man who fears the Lord,
who greatly delights in his commandments!
  • And this is the confidence that we have toward him, that if we ask anything according to his will he hears us.
  • This is the word of the Lord to Zerubbabel: Not by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit, says the Lord of hosts.
  • For in him the whole fullness of deity dwells bodily, and you have been filled in him, who is the head of all rule and authority.
  • For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evils. It is through this craving that some have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many pangs.
  • But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind.
  • Behold, his soul is puffed up; it is not upright within him,
but the righteous shall live by his faith.
  • The end of the matter; all has been heard. Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the whole duty of man.
  • There is a way that seems right to a man,
but its end is the way to death.
  • Many are the plans in the mind of a man,
but it is the purpose of the Lord that will stand.
  • Blessed is the man
who walks not in the counsel of the wicked,

nor sits in the seat of scoffers.
  • Wives, submit to your own husbands, as to the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife even as Christ is the head of the church, his body, and is himself its Savior.

  • Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.
  • But I say to you, Do not take an oath at all, either by heaven, for it is the throne of God, or by the earth, for it is his footstool, or by Jerusalem, for it is the city of the great King.
  • Yours, O Lord, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the victory and the majesty, for all that is in the heavens and in the earth is yours. Yours is the kingdom, O Lord, and you are exalted as head above all.
  • I am the true vine, and my Father is the vinedresser. Every branch in me that does not bear fruit he takes away, and every branch that does bear fruit he prunes, that it may bear more fruit.

  • Is not this the fast that I choose:
to loose the bonds of wickedness,
to undo the straps of the yoke,
to let the oppressed go free,
    and to break every yoke?
  • We ourselves are Jews by birth and not Gentile sinners; yet we know that a person is not justified by works of the law but through faith in Jesus Christ, so we also have believed in Christ Jesus, in order to be justified by faith in Christ and not by works of the law, because by works of the law no one will be justified.
  • And we know that the Son of God has come and has given us understanding, so that we may know him who is true; and we are in him who is true, in his Son Jesus Christ. He is the true God and eternal life.

So shall my word be that goes out from my mouth;
it shall not return to me empty,
but it shall accomplish that which I purpose,
