- I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid.
- For God wanted them to know that the riches and glory of Christ are for you Gentiles, too. And this is the secret: Christ lives in you. This gives you assurance of sharing his glory.
- For sin is the sting that results in death, and the law gives sin its power.
- Fools vent their anger,
but the wise quietly hold it back. - The Lord of Heaven’s Armies is a wonderful teacher,
and he gives the farmer great wisdom. - Let the message about Christ, in all its richness, fill your lives. Teach and counsel each other with all the wisdom he gives. Sing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs to God with thankful hearts.
- Some people are always greedy for more,
but the godly love to give! - So don’t be afraid, little flock. For it gives your Father great happiness to give you the Kingdom.
- The husband should fulfill his wife’s sexual needs, and the wife should fulfill her husband’s needs. The wife gives authority over her body to her husband, and the husband gives authority over his body to his wife.
- No one lights a lamp and then puts it under a basket. Instead, a lamp is placed on a stand, where it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father.
- And it is a good thing to receive wealth from God and the good health to enjoy it. To enjoy your work and accept your lot in life—this is indeed a gift from God.
- The wicked borrow and never repay,
but the godly are generous givers. - And “don’t sin by letting anger control you.” Don’t let the sun go down while you are still angry, for anger gives a foothold to the devil.
- Those who listen to instruction will prosper;
those who trust the Lord will be joyful. - Even so, I have noticed one thing, at least, that is good. It is good for people to eat, drink, and enjoy their work under the sun during the short life God has given them, and to accept their lot in life.
- Honor your father and mother. Then you will live a long, full life in the land the Lord your God is giving you.
- If you obey all the decrees and commands I am giving you today, all will be well with you and your children. I am giving you these instructions so you will enjoy a long life in the land the Lord your God is giving you for all time.
- It does not rejoice about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out. Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance.
- I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd sacrifices his life for the sheep.
- The generous will prosper;
those who refresh others will themselves be refreshed. - The sinful nature wants to do evil, which is just the opposite of what the Spirit wants. And the Spirit gives us desires that are the opposite of what the sinful nature desires. These two forces are constantly fighting each other, so you are not free to carry out your good intentions.
- For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline.
- A wise child brings joy to a father;
a foolish child brings grief to a mother. - I could have no greater joy than to hear that my children are following the truth.
- He who is the faithful witness to all these things says, “Yes, I am coming soon!”
