- Behold, I am the Lord, the God of all flesh. Is anything too hard for me?
- Ah, Lord God! It is you who have made the heavens and the earth by your great power and by your outstretched arm! Nothing is too hard for you.
- I am hard pressed between the two. My desire is to depart and be with Christ, for that is far better. But to remain in the flesh is more necessary on your account.
- In all toil there is profit,
but mere talk tends only to poverty. - For the sake of Christ, then, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. For when I am weak, then I am strong.
- Enter by the narrow gate. For the gate is wide and the way is easy that leads to destruction, and those who enter by it are many. For the gate is narrow and the way is hard that leads to life, and those who find it are few.
- The hand of the diligent will rule,
while the slothful will be put to forced labor. - Do not be slothful in zeal, be fervent in spirit, serve the Lord.
- With my whole heart I seek you;
let me not wander from your commandments! - Out of my distress I called on the Lord;
the Lord answered me and set me free. - Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword?
- Wealth gained hastily will dwindle,
but whoever gathers little by little will increase it. - Watch yourselves, so that you may not lose what we have worked for, but may win a full reward.
- In the day of prosperity be joyful, and in the day of adversity consider: God has made the one as well as the other, so that man may not find out anything that will be after him.
- For God is not unjust so as to overlook your work and the love that you have shown for his name in serving the saints, as you still do.
- Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth.
- Therefore, brothers, be all the more diligent to confirm your calling and election, for if you practice these qualities you will never fall. For in this way there will be richly provided for you an entrance into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
- If I give away all I have, and if I deliver up my body to be burned, but have not love, I gain nothing.
- Religion that is pure and undefiled before God the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world.
- For one will scarcely die for a righteous person—though perhaps for a good person one would dare even to die— but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
Deliver me, O Lord,
from lying lips,
