- For to you a thousand years
are like a yesterday that has passed
or one of the watches of the night. - Whoever denies the Son
does not have the Father,
but whoever acknowledges the Son
has the Father also. - If a man has recently been married, he is not to go off to battle nor have any other duty laid on him. He will be free to stay at home for one year so that he can bring happiness to the wife whom he has married.
- One who despairs should have the support of his friends
even if he has forsaken the fear of the Almighty. - And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God who has marked you with his seal for the day of redemption.
- Therefore, when someone is guilty of any one of these things, he shall confess the sin he has committed.
- But now the righteousness of God that is attested by the Law and the Prophets has been manifested apart from law: the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ for all who believe. No distinction has been made.
- No one has ever seen God,
but if we love one another,
God abides in us,
and his love is made complete in us. - The time of fulfillment has arrived, and the kingdom of God is close at hand. Repent, and believe in the gospel.
- Rather, be kind to one another and compassionate, and forgive one another as God has forgiven you in Christ.
- Give to everyone who begs from you, and do not demand the return of what is yours from the one who has taken it.
- So do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will take care of itself. Each day has enough troubles of its own.
- I press on toward the finishing line to win the heavenly prize to which God has called me in Christ Jesus.
- The way of God is blameless;
the Lord’s promise has proved true.
He is a shield to all
who take refuge in him. - Owe nothing to anyone except the debt of love you owe one another. The one who loves others has fulfilled the Law.
- This is how we can be certain
that we abide in him
and that he abides in us:
he has given us a share in his Spirit. - For since death came into the world through a man, the resurrection of the dead has also come through a man.
- The body is one, although it has many parts; and all the parts, though many, form one body. So it is with Christ.
- Only fear the Lord and serve him faithfully with your whole heart, considering the great things he has done for you.
- Beloved,
we are God’s children now.
What we shall be
has not yet been revealed.
However, we do know that when he appears
we shall be like him,
for we shall see him as he really is.
Everyone who has this hope in him
keeps himself pure,
just as he is pure. - The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me
because the Lord has anointed me.
He has sent me to announce good news to the oppressed,
to strengthen the brokenhearted,
to proclaim freedom to those held in captivity
and release to those who have been imprisoned. - Therefore, he has the full power to save those who approach God through him, since he lives forever to intercede for them.
- But the one who did not know those wishes, and who acted in such a manner as to deserve a beating, will be beaten less severely. Much will be demanded of a person to whom much has been given, and even more will be asked of a person to whom more has been entrusted.
- When you make a vow to God, do not delay in fulfilling it, for God has no pleasure in fools. Fulfill the vow you have made.
- As for me, I trust in your kindness;
my heart rejoices in your salvation.
I will sing to the Lord
because he has been good to me.
