- You know what I long for, Lord;
you hear my every sigh. - You must be holy because I, the Lord, am holy. I have set you apart from all other people to be my very own.
- I have hidden your word in my heart,
that I might not sin against you. - I, yes I, am the one who comforts you.
So why are you afraid of mere humans,
who wither like the grass and disappear? - Come and listen to my counsel.
I’ll share my heart with you
and make you wise. - O Lord, if you heal me, I will be truly healed;
if you save me, I will be truly saved.
My praises are for you alone! - There is more than enough room in my Father’s home. If this were not so, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you?
- I never shrank back from telling you what you needed to hear, either publicly or in your homes.
- I can never escape from your Spirit!
I can never get away from your presence!
If I go up to heaven, you are there;
if I go down to the grave, you are there. - Ask me and I will tell you remarkable secrets you do not know about things to come.
- Keep me safe, O God,
for I have come to you for refuge. - This is my commandment: Love each other in the same way I have loved you.
- Your unfailing love is better than life itself;
how I praise you!
I will praise you as long as I live,
lifting up my hands to you in prayer. - This is what I told them: ‘Obey me, and I will be your God, and you will be my people. Do everything as I say, and all will be well!’
- “For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.”
- God blesses you when people mock you and persecute you and lie about you and say all sorts of evil things against you because you are my followers.
- Don’t love money; be satisfied with what you have. For God has said,
“I will never fail you.
I will never abandon you.” - I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.
- I ask you again, does God give you the Holy Spirit and work miracles among you because you obey the law? Of course not! It is because you believe the message you heard about Christ.
- I will thank you, Lord, among all the people.
I will sing your praises among the nations. - I have given them to you for food, just as I have given you grain and vegetables. But you must never eat any meat that still has the lifeblood in it.
- I have written this to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, so that you may know you have eternal life.
- Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.”
- And I will put my Spirit in you so that you will follow my decrees and be careful to obey my regulations.
- What blessings await you when people hate you and exclude you and mock you and curse you as evil because you follow the Son of Man.
