| But whoso hath this world's good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him? | But whoever has worldly goods and sees his brother or sister in need, and closes his heart against him, how does the love of God remain in him? |
| And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us. | This is the confidence which we have before Him, that, if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. |

| Behold, his soul which is lifted up is not upright in him: but the just shall live by his faith. | Behold, as for the impudent one, His soul is not right within him; But the righteous one will live by his faith. |

And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure. | Beloved, now we are children of God, and it has not appeared as yet what we will be. We know that when He appears, we will be like Him, because we will see Him just as He is. And everyone who has this hope set on Him purifies himself, just as He is pure. |
| Howbeit for this cause I obtained mercy, that in me first Jesus Christ might shew forth all longsuffering, for a pattern to them which should hereafter believe on him to life everlasting. | Yet for this reason I found mercy, so that in me as the foremost sinner Jesus Christ might demonstrate His perfect patience as an example for those who would believe in Him for eternal life. |

| He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. | I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me. | I can do all things through Him who strengthens me. |
| For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him. | For if we believe that Jesus died and rose from the dead, so also God will bring with Him those who have fallen asleep through Jesus. |
| God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth. | God is spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth. |
