| If the world hates you, be aware that it hated me before it hated you. | If the world hates you, you know that it hated Me before it hated you. |
| When the Advocate comes whom I will send you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who comes from the Father, he will testify on my behalf. | But when the Helper comes, whom I shall send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who proceeds from the Father, He will testify of Me. |
| Nevertheless, I am telling you the truth: it is better for you that I depart. For if I do not go away, the Advocate will not come to you, whereas if I go, I will send him to you. | Nevertheless I tell you the truth. It is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I depart, I will send Him to you. |
| And when he comes, he will prove the world wrong about sin and righteousness and judgment. | And when He has come, He will convict the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment. |
