Chinese (traditional)- This is what love is:
not that we have loved God,
but that he loved us
and sent his Son as expiation for our sins. - Do not love the world
or what is in the world.
If anyone does love the world,
the love of the Father is not in him. - However, if we confess our sins,
he who is faithful and just
will forgive our sins
and cleanse us from all wrongdoing. - However, whoever lives by the truth
comes to the light
so that it may be clearly seen
that his deeds have been done in God. - Amen, amen, I say to you,
a servant is not greater than his master,
nor is a messenger greater
than the one who sent him. - This is the message
that we have heard from him
and that we declare to you:
God is light,
and there is no darkness at all in him. - If you keep my commandments,
you will remain in my love,
just as I have kept my Father’s commandments
and remain in his love. - Amen, amen, I say to you,
whoever receives the one I send
receives me,
and whoever receives me
receives the one who sent me. - On the last and greatest day of the feast, Jesus stood up and cried out,
“If anyone is thirsty,
let him come to me and drink.” - In my Father’s house
there are many dwelling places.
If there were not,
would I have told you
that I am going to prepare a place for you? - This is how we know what love is:
he laid down his life for us,
and we in turn must be prepared
to lay down our lives for our brethren. - Then Jesus said to him,
“You have come to believe
because you have seen me.
Blessed are those who have not seen
and yet have come to believe.” - God’s love was revealed to us in this way:
God sent his only-begotten Son into the world
so that we might have life through him. - I am the vine,
you are the branches.
Whoever abides in me, and I in him,
will bear much fruit.
Apart from me you can do nothing. - Dear children,
you are from God
and you have conquered them,
for the one who is in you is greater
than the one who is in the world. - If anyone wishes to serve me,
he must follow me.
Where I am,
there also will my servant be.
If anyone serves me,
my Father will honor that person. - And now, dear children,
abide in him,
so that when he appears
we may have confidence
and not be put to shame by him
at his coming. - Jesus answered them,
“I am the bread of life.
Whoever comes to me will never be hungry,
and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.” - I have made your name known to them,
and I will make it known,
so that the love with which you loved me
may be in them, and I in them. - For God so loved the world
that he gave his only Son,
so that everyone who believes in him
may not perish
but may attain eternal life. - Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life;
whoever does not believe in the Son will not see life,
but the wrath of God rests upon him. - I write these things to you
who believe in the name of the Son of God
so that you may know
that you have eternal life. - We have come to know
and to believe in
the love that God has for us.
God is love,
and whoever abides in love
abides in God,
and God in him. - If anyone is rich in worldly possessions
and sees a brother in need
but refuses to open his heart,
how can the love of God abide in him? - Jesus answered him,
“Whoever loves me will keep my word,
and my Father will love him,
and we will come to him
and make our abode with him.”
When God saw by their actions that they had turned from their evil ways, he relented and did not inflict upon them the punishment that he had threatened. Indeed, the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any two-edged sword, it pierces to the point where it divides soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and the intentions of the heart.Next verse! With image
