I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. For physical training is of some value, but godliness has value for all things, holding promise for both the present life and the life to come.For bodily exercise has some value, but godliness has value in all things, having the promise of the life which is now and of that which is to come.
A wicked person earns deceptive wages, but the one who sows righteousness reaps a sure reward.Wicked people earn deceitful wages, but one who sows righteousness reaps a sure reward.

Believers in humble circumstances ought to take pride in their high position. But the rich should take pride in their humiliation—since they will pass away like a wild flower.Let the brother in humble circumstances glory in his high position; and the rich, in that he is made humble, because like the flower in the grass, he will pass away.
