For, while physical training is of some value, godliness is valuable in every way, holding promise for both the present life and the life to come.For bodily exercise has some value, but godliness has value in all things, having the promise of the life which is now and of that which is to come.
The wicked earn no real gain, but those who sow righteousness get a true reward.Wicked people earn deceitful wages, but one who sows righteousness reaps a sure reward.
His master said to him, ‘Well done, good and trustworthy slave; you have been trustworthy in a few things, I will put you in charge of many things; enter into the joy of your master.’His lord said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a few things, I will set you over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.’
Let the believer who is lowly boast in being raised up, and the rich in being brought low, because the rich will disappear like a flower in the field.Let the brother in humble circumstances glory in his high position; and the rich, in that he is made humble, because like the flower in the grass, he will pass away.
