neither does it brood over setbacks. - This is how we know what love is:
he laid down his life for us,
and we in turn must be prepared
to lay down our lives for our brethren. - Thus there are three things that endure: faith, hope, and love,
and the greatest of these is love. - If someone says, “I love God,”
but at the same time hates his brother,
he is a liar.
For whoever does not love the brother
whom he has seen
cannot love God whom he has not seen. - Therefore, we love because he first loved us.
- If you love me,
you will keep my commandments. - This is my commandment:
love one another
as I have loved you. - Let your love be sincere. Loathe what is evil and hold fast to what is good.
