| Do not work for the food that perishes, but for the food that endures to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give to you. | There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way to death. | There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death. |
| Before destruction a man's heart is haughty, but humility comes before honor. | Before destruction the heart of man is haughty, and before honour is humility. |
| So, if they say to you, ‘Look, he is in the wilderness,’ do not go out. If they say, ‘Look, he is in the inner rooms,’ do not believe it. For as the lightning comes from the east and shines as far as the west, so will be the coming of the Son of Man. | Wherefore if they shall say unto you, Behold, he is in the desert; go not forth: behold, he is in the secret chambers; believe it not. | The good person out of the good treasure of his heart produces good, and the evil person out of his evil treasure produces evil, for out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks. | A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh. |
| To make an apt answer is a joy to a man, and a word in season, how good it is! | A man hath joy by the answer of his mouth: and a word spoken in due season, how good is it! |
| It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in man. | It is better to trust in the Lord than to put confidence in man. |
| The steps of a man are established by the Lord, when he delights in his way. | The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord: and he delighteth in his way. |
