Before destruction the heart of a person is haughty, But humility goes before honor. | A man is haughty until disaster overtakes him, but humility comes before honors. |

A person has joy in an apt answer, And how delightful is a timely word! | A man is joyful when he utters apt answers, and even more satisfying is a word in season. |
Praise the Lord! Blessed is a person who fears the Lord, Who greatly delights in His commandments. | Alleluia. Blessed is the man who fears the Lord, who greatly delights in his precepts. |
The father of the righteous will greatly rejoice, And he who fathers a wise son will be glad in him. | The father of a good man will rejoice; he who begets a wise son will delight in him. |
“And they will be Mine,” says the Lord of armies, “on the day that I prepare My own possession, and I will have compassion for them just as a man has compassion for his own son who serves him.” | They shall be mine, says the Lord of hosts, my own special possession on the day when I act, and I will have compassion on them as a father has compassion on the son who serves him. |

For the despairing man there should be kindness from his friend; So that he does not abandon the fear of the Almighty. | One who despairs should have the support of his friends even if he has forsaken the fear of the Almighty. |
It is better to take refuge in the Lord Than to trust in people. | It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to place your trust in mortals. |
Therefore let it be known to you, brothers, that through Him forgiveness of sins is proclaimed to you, and through Him everyone who believes is freed from all things, from which you could not be freed through the Law of Moses. | You must understand, brethren, that it is through him that forgiveness of sins is being proclaimed to you. All those who believe are justified from all the things from which they could not be justified by the Law of Moses. |
The mind of a person plans his way, But the Lord directs his steps. | A man may plan his own course, but the Lord makes his steps secure. |
A fool’s anger is known at once, But a prudent person conceals dishonor. | A fool is quick to show his anger, but a prudent man ignores an insult. |
