| What is desirable in a person is loyalty, and it is better to be poor than a liar. | What is desired in a man is kindness, And a poor man is better than a liar. |
| How can young people keep their way pure? By guarding it according to your word. | How can a young man cleanse his way? By taking heed according to Your word. |

| Just as water reflects the face, so one human heart reflects another. | As in water face reflects face, So a man’s heart reveals the man. |

| For what will it profit them if they gain the whole world but forfeit their life? Or what will they give in return for their life? | For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul? |
| So we can say with confidence, “The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can anyone do to me?” | So we may boldly say: “The Lord is my helper; I will not fear. What can man do to me?” |
| A perverse person spreads strife, and a whisperer separates close friends. | A perverse man sows strife, And a whisperer separates the best of friends. |
