All this took place in order to fulfill what the Lord had announced through the prophet: “Behold, the virgin shall conceive and give birth to a son, and they shall name him Emmanuel,” a name that means “God is with us.” | Now all this took place so that what was spoken by the Lord through the prophet would be fulfilled: “Behold, the virgin will conceive and give birth to a Son, and they shall name Him Immanuel,” which translated means, “God with us.” |
What then? Should we sin because we are not under the Law but under grace? Of course not! | What then? Are we to sin because we are not under the Law but under grace? Far from it! |
Treasures obtained by wicked means profit nothing, but a righteous life brings delivery from death. | Ill-gotten gains do not benefit, But righteousness rescues from death. |
As servants of God, behave as free people, but do not use your freedom as a means to cover up wrongdoing. | Act as free people, and do not use your freedom as a covering for evil, but use it as bond-servants of God. |
The Lord is slow to anger but great in power, and he will never allow the guilty to escape punishment. He makes his way in whirlwind and storm, and the clouds are the dust beneath his feet. | The Lord is slow to anger and great in power, And the Lord will by no means leave the guilty unpunished. In the gale and the storm is His way, And clouds are the dust beneath His feet. |
What then shall we say? Should we persist in sin in order that grace may abound? Of course not! We have died to sin. How can we live in it any longer? | What shall we say then? Are we to continue in sin so that grace may increase? Far from it! How shall we who died to sin still live in it? |
Rather, I discipline my body and bring it under control, for fear that after preaching to others I myself may be disqualified. | But I strictly discipline my body and make it my slave, so that, after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified. |
For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain. | For to me, to live is Christ, and to die is gain. |

Amen, I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not a single letter, not even a tiny portion of a letter, will disappear from the Law until all things have been accomplished. | For truly I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not the smallest letter or stroke of a letter shall pass from the Law, until all is accomplished! |
Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away. | Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will not pass away. |
Godliness produces great gain, but only to those who are content. | But godliness actually is a means of great gain when accompanied by contentment. |
What then should we say? That the Law is sinful? Absolutely not! Yet if it had not been for the Law, I would not have known what sin was. I would not have known what covet is if the Law had not said, “You shall not covet.” | What shall we say then? Is the Law sin? Far from it! On the contrary, I would not have come to know sin except through the Law; for I would not have known about coveting if the Law had not said, “You shall not covet.” |

Let no one deceive you in any way. That Day cannot come before the final rebellion occurs and the lawless one is revealed, the son of destruction.
