Chinese (traditional)Bible Verses about 'Mere'
- In all toil there is profit,
but mere talk tends only to poverty. - I, I am he who comforts you;
who are you that you are afraid of man who dies,
of the son of man who is made like grass. - The Lord is on my side; I will not fear.
What can man do to me? - In God, whose word I praise,
in God I trust; I shall not be afraid.
What can flesh do to me? - So we can confidently say,
“The Lord is my helper;
I will not fear;
what can man do to me?” - What is man that you are mindful of him,
and the son of man that you care for him? - But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.
- They said to you, “In the last time there will be scoffers, following their own ungodly passions.” It is these who cause divisions, worldly people, devoid of the Spirit.
- Knowing that you were ransomed from the futile ways inherited from your forefathers, not with perishable things such as silver or gold, but with the precious blood of Christ, like that of a lamb without blemish or spot.
- Little children, let us not love in word or talk but in deed and in truth.
- By the word of the Lord the heavens were made,
and by the breath of his mouth all their host. - And when you pray, do not heap up empty phrases as the Gentiles do, for they think that they will be heard for their many words.
- Do not let your adorning be external—the braiding of hair and the putting on of gold jewelry, or the clothing you wear— but let your adorning be the hidden person of the heart with the imperishable beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which in God's sight is very precious.
With all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love.
