You say, “I am allowed to do anything”—but not everything is good for you. And even though “I am allowed to do anything,” I must not become a slave to anything.“All things are lawful for me,” but not all things are beneficial. “All things are lawful for me,” but I will not be dominated by anything.
Can he walk on hot coals and not blister his feet?Or can one walk on hot coals without scorching the feet?
So Jesus told them, “My message is not my own; it comes from God who sent me.”Then Jesus answered them, “My teaching is not mine but his who sent me.”
Don’t imagine that I came to bring peace to the earth! I came not to bring peace, but a sword.Do not think that I have come to bring peace to the earth; I have not come to bring peace, but a sword.
But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint.But those who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength, they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.
Arise, O Lord! Punish the wicked, O God! Do not ignore the helpless!Rise up, O Lord; O God, lift up your hand; do not forget the oppressed.
So let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up.So let us not grow weary in doing what is right, for we will reap at harvest time, if we do not give up.

Do not nurse hatred in your heart for any of your relatives. Confront people directly so you will not be held guilty for their sin. Do not seek revenge or bear a grudge against a fellow Israelite, but love your neighbor as yourself. Whatever you give is acceptable if you give it eagerly. And give according to what you have, not what you don’t have.For if the eagerness is there, the gift is acceptable according to what one has—not according to what one does not have.
The Lord says, “I was ready to respond, but no one asked for help. I was ready to be found, but no one was looking for me. I said, ‘Here I am, here I am!’ to a nation that did not call on my name.”I was ready to be sought out by those who did not ask, to be found by those who did not seek me. I said, “Here I am, here I am,” to a nation that did not call on my name.
Dear children, let’s not merely say that we love each other; let us show the truth by our actions.Little children, let us love, not in word or speech, but in truth and action.
Direct your children onto the right path, and when they are older, they will not leave it.Train children in the right way, and when old, they will not stray.
I know the Lord is always with me. I will not be shaken, for he is right beside me.I keep the Lord always before me; because he is at my right hand, I shall not be moved.
But I say, do not make any vows! Do not say, ‘By heaven!’ because heaven is God’s throne. And do not say, ‘By the earth!’ because the earth is his footstool. And do not say, ‘By Jerusalem!’ for Jerusalem is the city of the great King.But I say to you, Do not swear at all, either by heaven, for it is the throne of God, or by the earth, for it is his footstool, or by Jerusalem, for it is the city of the great King.

Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the Lord will personally go ahead of you. He will be with you; he will neither fail you nor abandon you.It is the Lord who goes before you. He will be with you; he will not fail you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed.
