- I am not asking you
to take them out of the world,
but I do ask you
to protect them from the evil one. - While experiencing temptation, no one should say, “God is tempting me.” For God cannot be tempted by evil, and he himself tempts no one.
- Finally, all of you should be united in spirit, sympathetic, filled with love for one another, compassionate, and humble.
- The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom,
and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding. - Jesus replied,
“I am the way, and the truth, and the life.
No one comes to the Father
except through me.” - And do not lead us into temptation,
but deliver us from the evil one. - Or can a man walk on red-hot coals
without scorching his feet? - And let the peace of Christ reign in your hearts, because it was for this that you were called together in one body. Always be thankful.
- For this reason
a man shall leave his father and mother
and be joined to his wife,
and the two shall become one flesh. - He replied, “Have you not read that from the beginning the Creator ‘made them male and female’ and said: ‘That is why a man leaves his father and mother and is joined to his wife, and the two become one flesh’? And so they are no longer two but one flesh. Therefore, what God has joined together, let no one separate.”
- One who gossips reveals secrets,
but a trustworthy man keeps things hidden. - I am now about to go the way of all upon the earth. You know very well in your hearts and your souls that not one of the good things that the Lord, your God, promised you has failed to take place. Every promise has been fulfilled, not one of them has been broken.
- I myself did not know him,
but the one who sent me to baptize with water told me,
‘The one on whom you see the Spirit descend and rest
is the one who is to baptize with the Holy Spirit.’ - There is no longer Jew or Greek, there is no longer slave or free man, there is no longer male or female. For all of you are one in Christ Jesus.
- All you need to do is to say ‘Yes’ if you mean ‘Yes’ and ‘No’ if you mean ‘No.’ Anything beyond this comes from the evil one.
- May the Lord cause your love to increase and overflow for one another and for everyone else, just as our love does for you.
- But whoever endures to the end will be saved.
- For the entire Law can be summed up in a single commandment: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”
- Jesus said,
“Amen, amen, I say to you,
no one can enter the kingdom of God
unless he is born of water and the Spirit.” - If anyone would boast, let him boast in the Lord. For it is not the one who commends himself who is really approved, but the one whom the Lord commends.
- When the day of Pentecost arrived, they were all assembled together in one place. Suddenly, there came from heaven a sound similar to that of a violent wind, and it filled the entire house in which they were sitting.
- Brethren, we must always give thanks to God for you, and it is only right that we do so. For your faith grows ever more, and the love that all of you have for one another continues to increase.
- Amen, amen, I say to you,
whoever receives the one I send
receives me,
and whoever receives me
receives the one who sent me. - Now in regard to the eating of meat sacrificed to idols, we know that idols are nothing in the world and that there is only one God.
- There is only one thing I ask of the Lord,
just one thing I seek:
to dwell in the house of the Lord
all the days of my life,
so that I may enjoy the beauty of the Lord
and gaze on his temple.
