Over (3/4)

  • On a Sabbath Jesus was teaching in one of the synagogues, and a woman was there who had been crippled by a spirit for eighteen years. She was bent over and could not straighten up at all. When Jesus saw her, he called her forward and said to her, “Woman, you are set free from your infirmity.” Then he put his hands on her, and immediately she straightened up and praised God. Indignant because Jesus had healed on the Sabbath, the synagogue leader said to the people, “There are six days for work. So come and be healed on those days, not on the Sabbath.” The Lord answered him, “You hypocrites! Doesn’t each of you on the Sabbath untie your ox or donkey from the stall and lead it out to give it water? Then should not this woman, a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan has kept bound for eighteen long years, be set free on the Sabbath day from what bound her?” When he said this, all his opponents were humiliated, but the people were delighted with all the wonderful things he was doing.
  • May God bless us still,
    so that all the ends of the earth will fear him.
  • “Look, he is coming with the clouds,”
    and “every eye will see him,
    even those who pierced him”;
    and all peoples on earth “will mourn because of him.”
    So shall it be! Amen.
  • Above all else, guard your heart,
    for everything you do flows from it.
  • But the eyes of the Lord are on those who fear him,
    on those whose hope is in his unfailing love.
  • When times are good, be happy; but when times are bad, consider this: God has made the one as well as the other. Therefore, no one can discover anything about their future.
  • The tongue has the power of life and death,
    and those who love it will eat its fruit.
  • But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
  • Don’t let anyone deceive you in any way, for that day will not come until the rebellion occurs and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the man doomed to destruction. He will oppose and will exalt himself over everything that is called God or is worshiped, so that he sets himself up in God’s temple, proclaiming himself to be God.
  • The eyes of the Lord are on the righteous,
    and his ears are attentive to their cry.
  • Dishonest money dwindles away,
    but whoever gathers money little by little makes it grow.
  • A good name is more desirable than great riches;
    to be esteemed is better than silver or gold.
  • I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go;
    I will counsel you with my loving eye on you.
  • Do not withhold your mercy from me, Lord;
    may your love and faithfulness always protect me.
  • Let those who love the Lord hate evil,
    for he guards the lives of his faithful ones
    and delivers them from the hand of the wicked.
  • He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things?
  • One person considers one day more sacred than another; another considers every day alike. Each of them should be fully convinced in their own mind.
  • And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.
  • Sitting down, Jesus called the Twelve and said, “Anyone who wants to be first must be the very last, and the servant of all.”
  • And he is the head of the body, the church; he is the beginning and the firstborn from among the dead, so that in everything he might have the supremacy.
  • Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
  • No one lights a lamp and hides it in a clay jar or puts it under a bed. Instead, they put it on a stand, so that those who come in can see the light.
  • You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.
  • While he was still speaking, a bright cloud covered them, and a voice from the cloud said, “This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased. Listen to him!”
  • Rend your heart
    and not your garments.
    Return to the Lord your God,
    for he is gracious and compassionate,
    slow to anger and abounding in love,
    and he relents from sending calamity.

So that, just as sin reigned in death, so also grace might reign through righteousness to bring eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
