- The tongue has the power of life and death,
and those who love it will eat its fruit. - But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
- The eyes of the Lord are on the righteous,
and his ears are attentive to their cry. - Dishonest money dwindles away,
but whoever gathers money little by little makes it grow. - They exchanged the truth about God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator—who is forever praised. Amen. Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural sexual relations for unnatural ones. In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed shameful acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their error. Furthermore, just as they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, so God gave them over to a depraved mind, so that they do what ought not to be done.
- A good name is more desirable than great riches;
to be esteemed is better than silver or gold. - “Look, he is coming with the clouds,”
and “every eye will see him,
even those who pierced him”;
and all peoples on earth “will mourn because of him.”
So shall it be! Amen. - I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go;
I will counsel you with my loving eye on you. - But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah,
though you are small among the clans of Judah,
out of you will come for me
one who will be ruler over Israel,
whose origins are from of old,
from ancient times. - When you pass through the waters,
I will be with you;
and when you pass through the rivers,
they will not sweep over you.
When you walk through the fire,
you will not be burned;
the flames will not set you ablaze. - And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.
- Sitting down, Jesus called the Twelve and said, “Anyone who wants to be first must be the very last, and the servant of all.”
- And he is the head of the body, the church; he is the beginning and the firstborn from among the dead, so that in everything he might have the supremacy.
- Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
- Above all else, guard your heart,
for everything you do flows from it. - You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.
- While he was still speaking, a bright cloud covered them, and a voice from the cloud said, “This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased. Listen to him!”
- When times are good, be happy; but when times are bad, consider this: God has made the one as well as the other. Therefore, no one can discover anything about their future.
- Don’t let anyone deceive you in any way, for that day will not come until the rebellion occurs and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the man doomed to destruction. He will oppose and will exalt himself over everything that is called God or is worshiped, so that he sets himself up in God’s temple, proclaiming himself to be God.
- So that, just as sin reigned in death, so also grace might reign through righteousness to bring eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
- Do not withhold your mercy from me, Lord;
may your love and faithfulness always protect me. - Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, left the Jordan and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness, where for forty days he was tempted by the devil. He ate nothing during those days, and at the end of them he was hungry.
- Let those who love the Lord hate evil,
for he guards the lives of his faithful ones
and delivers them from the hand of the wicked. - He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things?
- One person considers one day more sacred than another; another considers every day alike. Each of them should be fully convinced in their own mind.
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot.
