When pride comes, then comes disgrace, but with humility comes wisdom.When pride comes, then comes dishonor; But with the humble there is wisdom.
Pride brings a person low, but the lowly in spirit gain honor.A person’s pride will bring him low, But a humble spirit will obtain honor.
To fear the Lord is to hate evil; I hate pride and arrogance, evil behavior and perverse speech.The fear of the Lord is to hate evil; Pride, arrogance, the evil way, And the perverted mouth, I hate.

Believers in humble circumstances ought to take pride in their high position. But the rich should take pride in their humiliation—since they will pass away like a wild flower.Now the brother or sister of humble circumstances is to glory in his high position; but the rich person is to glory in his humiliation, because like flowering grass he will pass away.
Children’s children are a crown to the aged, and parents are the pride of their children.Grandchildren are the crown of the old, And the glory of sons is their fathers.
He went on: “What comes out of a person is what defiles them. For it is from within, out of a person’s heart, that evil thoughts come—sexual immorality, theft, murder, adultery, greed, malice, deceit, lewdness, envy, slander, arrogance and folly. All these evils come from inside and defile a person.”And He was saying, “That which comes out of the person, that is what defiles the person. For from within, out of the hearts of people, come the evil thoughts, acts of sexual immorality, thefts, murders, acts of adultery, deeds of greed, wickedness, deceit, indecent behavior, envy, slander, pride, and foolishness. All these evil things come from within and defile the person.”
Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the Lord our God.Some praise their chariots and some their horses, But we will praise the name of the Lord, our God.
Live in harmony with one another. Do not be proud, but be willing to associate with people of low position. Do not be conceited.Be of the same mind toward one another; do not be haughty in mind, but associate with the lowly. Do not be wise in your own estimation.
But, “Let the one who boasts boast in the Lord.” For it is not the one who commends himself who is approved, but the one whom the Lord commends.But the one who boasts is to boast in the Lord. For it is not the one who commends himself that is approved, but the one whom the Lord commends.
But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The Lord does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not look at his appearance or at the height of his stature, because I have rejected him; for God does not see as man sees, since man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”
Before a downfall the heart is haughty, but humility comes before honor.Before destruction the heart of a person is haughty, But humility goes before honor.
God chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things—and the things that are not—to nullify the things that are, so that no one may boast before him.And the insignificant things of the world and the despised God has chosen, the things that are not, so that He may nullify the things that are, so that no human may boast before God.
Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord and shun evil. This will bring health to your body and nourishment to your bones.Do not be wise in your own eyes; Fear the Lord and turn away from evil. It will be healing to your body And refreshment to your bones.
Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment.Instruct those who are rich in this present world not to be conceited or to set their hope on the uncertainty of riches, but on God, who richly supplies us with all things to enjoy.
If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing.And if I give away all my possessions to charity, and if I surrender my body so that I may glory, but do not have love, it does me no good.
When I fed them, they were satisfied; when they were satisfied, they became proud; then they forgot me.As they had their pasture, they became satisfied, And as they became satisfied, their heart became proud; Therefore they forgot Me.
