- O Lord, you have searched me and known me!
You know when I sit down and when I rise up;
you discern my thoughts from afar. - Then the other disciple, who had reached the tomb first, also went in, and he saw and believed; for as yet they did not understand the Scripture, that he must rise from the dead.
- He is not here, but has risen. Remember how he told you, while he was still in Galilee, that the Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men and be crucified and on the third day rise.
- But for you who fear my name, the sun of righteousness shall rise with healing in its wings. You shall go out leaping like calves from the stall.
- For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a cry of command, with the voice of an archangel, and with the sound of the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. - Arise, O Lord; O God, lift up your hand;
forget not the afflicted. - And now why do you wait? Rise and be baptized and wash away your sins, calling on his name.
- Though an army encamp against me,
my heart shall not fear;
though war arise against me,
yet I will be confident. - Therefore the Lord waits to be gracious to you,
and therefore he exalts himself to show mercy to you.
For the Lord is a God of justice;
blessed are all those who wait for him. - To this day I have had the help that comes from God, and so I stand here testifying both to small and great, saying nothing but what the prophets and Moses said would come to pass: that the Christ must suffer and that, by being the first to rise from the dead, he would proclaim light both to our people and to the Gentiles.
- Hatred stirs up strife,
but love covers all offenses. - He heals the brokenhearted
and binds up their wounds. - For if they fall, one will lift up his fellow. But woe to him who is alone when he falls and has not another to lift him up!
- The vine dries up;
the fig tree languishes.
Pomegranate, palm, and apple,
all the trees of the field are dried up,
and gladness dries up
from the children of man. - And he led them out as far as Bethany, and lifting up his hands he blessed them. While he blessed them, he parted from them and was carried up into heaven.
- A soft answer turns away wrath,
but a harsh word stirs up anger. - When I thought, “My foot slips,”
your steadfast love, O Lord, held me up. - See, we are going up to Jerusalem. And the Son of Man will be delivered over to the chief priests and scribes, and they will condemn him to death and deliver him over to the Gentiles to be mocked and flogged and crucified, and he will be raised on the third day.
- And when he had said these things, as they were looking on, he was lifted up, and a cloud took him out of their sight.
- Let each of us please his neighbor for his good, to build him up.
- When Jesus had received the sour wine, he said, “It is finished,” and he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.
- One's pride will bring him low,
but he who is lowly in spirit will obtain honor. - And he said to all, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me.”
- A joyful heart is good medicine,
but a crushed spirit dries up the bones.
