For while we were still weak, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly. | For when we were still without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. |
And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “See, the home of God is among mortals. He will dwell with them as their God; they will be his peoples, and God himself will be with them; he will wipe every tear from their eyes. Death will be no more; mourning and crying and pain will be no more, for the first things have passed away.” | And I heard a loud voice from heaven saying, “Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people. God Himself will be with them and be their God. And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.” |
Have I any pleasure in the death of the wicked, says the Lord God, and not rather that they should turn from their ways and live? | “Do I have any pleasure at all that the wicked should die?” says the Lord God, “and not that he should turn from his ways and live?” |
Because they exchanged the truth about God for a lie and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever! Amen. For this reason God gave them up to degrading passions. Their women exchanged natural intercourse for unnatural, and in the same way also the men, giving up natural intercourse with women, were consumed with passion for one another. Men committed shameless acts with men and received in their own persons the due penalty for their error. And since they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God gave them up to a debased mind and to things that should not be done. | Who exchanged the truth of God for the lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen. For this reason God gave them up to vile passions. For even their women exchanged the natural use for what is against nature. Likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust for one another, men with men committing what is shameful, and receiving in themselves the penalty of their error which was due. And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a debased mind, to do those things which are not fitting. |
Look at the proud! Their spirit is not right in them, but the righteous live by their faith. | Behold the proud, His soul is not upright in him; But the just shall live by his faith. |
The Lord opens the eyes of the blind. The Lord lifts up those who are bowed down; the Lord loves the righteous. | The Lord opens the eyes of the blind; The Lord raises those who are bowed down; The Lord loves the righteous. |
Take care, brothers and sisters, that none of you may have an evil, unbelieving heart that turns away from the living God. | Beware, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief in departing from the living God. |
Because we look not at what can be seen but at what cannot be seen; for what can be seen is temporary, but what cannot be seen is eternal. | While we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal. |
Let what you heard from the beginning abide in you. If what you heard from the beginning abides in you, then you will abide in the Son and in the Father. | Therefore let that abide in you which you heard from the beginning. If what you heard from the beginning abides in you, you also will abide in the Son and in the Father. |
Speak out, judge righteously, defend the rights of the poor and needy. | Open your mouth, judge righteously, And plead the cause of the poor and needy. |
Those who say, “I love God,” and hate their brothers or sisters, are liars; for those who do not love a brother or sister whom they have seen, cannot love God whom they have not seen. | If someone says, “I love God,” and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen, how can he love God whom he has not seen? |
Look at the birds of the air; they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? | Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? |
Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not rely on your own insight. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths. | Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths. |
One thing I asked of the Lord, that will I seek after: to live in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord, and to inquire in his temple. | One thing I have desired of the Lord, That will I seek: That I may dwell in the house of the Lord All the days of my life, To behold the beauty of the Lord, And to inquire in His temple. |
But, as it is written, “What no eye has seen, nor ear heard, nor the human heart conceived, what God has prepared for those who love him” | But as it is written: “Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, Nor have entered into the heart of man The things which God has prepared for those who love Him.” |
But let justice roll down like waters, and righteousness like an ever-flowing stream. | But let justice run down like water, And righteousness like a mighty stream. |
So faith by itself, if it has no works, is dead. | Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead. |
Let your gentleness be known to everyone. The Lord is near. | Let your gentleness be known to all men. The Lord is at hand. |
Arise, shine; for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord has risen upon you. | Arise, shine; For your light has come! And the glory of the Lord is risen upon you. |
But those who do what is true come to the light, so that it may be clearly seen that their deeds have been done in God. | But he who does the truth comes to the light, that his deeds may be clearly seen, that they have been done in God. |
When he had said this, as they were watching, he was lifted up, and a cloud took him out of their sight. | Now when He had spoken these things, while they watched, He was taken up, and a cloud received Him out of their sight. |

Then Peter began to speak to them: “I truly understand that God shows no partiality, but in every nation anyone who fears him and does what is right is acceptable to him.” | Then Peter opened his mouth and said: “In truth I perceive that God shows no partiality. But in every nation whoever fears Him and works righteousness is accepted by Him.” |
Then the Lord knows how to rescue the godly from trial, and to keep the unrighteous under punishment until the day of judgment. | Then the Lord knows how to deliver the godly out of temptations and to reserve the unjust under punishment for the day of judgment. |
