- This is
‘the stone rejected by you, the builders,
that has become the cornerstone.’ - The desires of the flesh result in death, but the desires of the Spirit result in life and peace.
- If the Lord does not build the house,
those who construct it labor in vain.
If the Lord does not guard the city,
those who keep watch over it do so in vain. - Let those who love the Lord hate evil,
for he protects the souls of his faithful ones
and rescues them from the hand of the wicked. - And God said, “Let us make man in our image and likeness, and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the sky and over the cattle and over all the wild animals and reptiles that crawl upon the earth.”
- The misfortunes of the righteous man are many,
but the Lord delivers him, from all of them. - Those who live according to the flesh fix their attention on the things of the flesh, while those who live according to the Spirit set their thoughts on spiritual things.
- There is only one thing I ask of the Lord,
just one thing I seek:
to dwell in the house of the Lord
all the days of my life,
so that I may enjoy the beauty of the Lord
and gaze on his temple. - And learn to do good.
Pursue justice and rescue the oppressed;
listen to the plea of the orphan
and defend the widow. - Blessed is the man whom God reproves.
Therefore, do not reject the discipline of the Almighty. - Hence, I advise you to be guided by the Spirit, so that you will not gratify the desires of the flesh.
- The crowds that preceded him and those that followed kept shouting:
“Hosanna to the Son of David!
Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!
Hosanna in the highest!” - Just as you do not know the path of the wind
or how the body is formed in a woman’s womb,
so you do not know the work of God,
the Creator of all. - Our help is in the name of the Lord,
the Maker of heaven and earth. - The Lord is slow to anger but great in power,
and he will never allow the guilty
to escape punishment.
He makes his way in whirlwind and storm,
and the clouds are the dust beneath his feet. - Who indeed conquers the world
except the one who believes
that Jesus is the Son of God? - Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord,
the people whom he has chosen as his heritage. - Therefore, the Lord knows how to rescue the godly from their trials and to hold the wicked for punishment until the Day of Judgment.
- May the favor of the Lord, our God, rest upon us.
And may the work of our hands prosper—
indeed, may the work of our hands prosper. - The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge;
fools are those who despise wisdom and instruction. - With our eyes fixed on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith. For the sake of the joy that lay before him, he endured the cross, ignoring its shame, and is now seated at the right hand of the throne of God.
- The Lord loves righteousness and justice;
the earth is filled with his kindness. - Above his head was inscribed the charge against him: “This is Jesus, the King of the Jews.”
- Grandchildren are the crown of the aged,
and the glory of children is their parents. - You who abide in the shelter of the Most High,
who rest in the shadow of the Almighty,
say to the Lord, “You are my refuge and my fortress,
my God in whom I place my trust.”
