- And this commandment have we from him, That he who loveth God love his brother also.
- He that keepeth the commandment keepeth his own soul;
but he that despiseth his ways shall die. - For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?
- Even a fool, when he holdeth his peace, is counted wise:
and he that shutteth his lips is esteemed a man of understanding. - Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for him:
fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way,
because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass. - A fool uttereth all his mind:
but a wise man keepeth it in till afterwards. - But if any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel.
- A fool's wrath is presently known:
but a prudent man covereth shame. - Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls.
- Many shall be purified, and made white, and tried; but the wicked shall do wickedly: and none of the wicked shall understand; but the wise shall understand.
- And it came to pass, because the midwives feared God, that he made them houses.

- The words of a wise man's mouth are gracious;
but the lips of a fool will swallow up himself. - And the multitude of them that believed were of one heart and of one soul: neither said any of them that ought of the things which he possessed was his own; but they had all things common.
- The Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptations, and to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment to be punished.
- The ransom of a man's life are his riches:
but the poor heareth not rebuke. - Envy thou not the oppressor,
and choose none of his ways.
For the froward is abomination to the Lord:
but his secret is with the righteous. - For he that will love life, and see good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips that they speak no guile: Let him eschew evil, and do good; let him seek peace, and ensue it.
