- Exalted to the right hand of God, he has received from the Father the promised Holy Spirit and has poured out what you now see and hear.
- Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.
- Since you are my rock and my fortress,
for the sake of your name lead and guide me. - Acknowledge and take to heart this day that the Lord is God in heaven above and on the earth below. There is no other.
- How great you are, Sovereign Lord! There is no one like you, and there is no God but you, as we have heard with our own ears.
- So Peter was kept in prison, but the church was earnestly praying to God for him.
- When times are good, be happy; but when times are bad, consider this: God has made the one as well as the other. Therefore, no one can discover anything about their future.
- There remains, then, a Sabbath-rest for the people of God; for anyone who enters God’s rest also rests from their works, just as God did from his.
- So then, about eating food sacrificed to idols: We know that “An idol is nothing at all in the world” and that “There is no God but one.”
- We love because He first loved us.
- That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.
- So then, let us not be like others, who are asleep, but let us be awake and sober.
- So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets.
- So then, banish anxiety from your heart
and cast off the troubles of your body,
for youth and vigor are meaningless. - “Now then,” said Joshua, “throw away the foreign gods that are among you and yield your hearts to the Lord, the God of Israel.”
- Give to everyone what you owe them: If you owe taxes, pay taxes; if revenue, then revenue; if respect, then respect; if honor, then honor.
- But as for me, I watch in hope for the Lord,
I wait for God my Savior;
my God will hear me. - The beginning of wisdom is this: Get wisdom.
Though it cost all you have, get understanding. - And the Lord God said, “The man has now become like one of us, knowing good and evil. He must not be allowed to reach out his hand and take also from the tree of life and eat, and live forever.” So the Lord God banished him from the Garden of Eden to work the ground from which he had been taken.
- So when you give to the needy, do not announce it with trumpets, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and on the streets, to be honored by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full.
- So again I ask, does God give you his Spirit and work miracles among you by the works of the law, or by your believing what you heard?
- When the sentence for a crime is not quickly carried out, people’s hearts are filled with schemes to do wrong.
- Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy. Six days you shall labor and do all your work, but the seventh day is a sabbath to the Lord your God. On it you shall not do any work, neither you, nor your son or daughter, nor your male or female servant, nor your animals, nor any foreigner residing in your towns. For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, but he rested on the seventh day. Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy.
- Since you are precious and honored in my sight,
and because I love you,
I will give people in exchange for you,
nations in exchange for your life. - Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground outside your Father’s care. And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. So don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.
