| And if you say in your heart, ‘How shall we know the word which the Lord has not spoken?’— when a prophet speaks in the name of the Lord, if the thing does not happen or come to pass, that is the thing which the Lord has not spoken; the prophet has spoken it presumptuously; you shall not be afraid of him. | And if thou say in thine heart, How shall we know the word which the Lord hath not spoken? | If you turn away your foot from the Sabbath, From doing your pleasure on My holy day, And call the Sabbath a delight, The holy day of the Lord honorable, And shall honor Him, not doing your own ways, Nor finding your own pleasure, Nor speaking your own words, Then you shall delight yourself in the Lord; And I will cause you to ride on the high hills of the earth, And feed you with the heritage of Jacob your father. | Do not think that I came to destroy the Law or the Prophets. I did not come to destroy but to fulfill. | Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. |

| For because of this you also pay taxes, for they are God’s ministers attending continually to this very thing. | For for this cause pay ye tribute also: for they are God's ministers, attending continually upon this very thing. |
| Observe the Sabbath day, to keep it holy, as the Lord your God commanded you. Six days you shall labor and do all your work, but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord your God. In it you shall do no work: you, nor your son, nor your daughter, nor your male servant, nor your female servant, nor your ox, nor your donkey, nor any of your cattle, nor your stranger who is within your gates, that your male servant and your female servant may rest as well as you. | Keep the sabbath day to sanctify it, as the Lord thy God hath commanded thee. | Or do you think that I cannot now pray to My Father, and He will provide Me with more than twelve legions of angels? | Thinkest thou that I cannot now pray to my Father, and he shall presently give me more than twelve legions of angels? |
| But, beloved, do not forget this one thing, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. | But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. |
