- And over his head they put the charge against him, which read, “This is Jesus, the King of the Jews.”

- Open your mouth, judge righteously,
defend the rights of the poor and needy. - A dishonest man spreads strife,
and a whisperer separates close friends. - And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise.
- And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.
- Where shall I go from your Spirit?
Or where shall I flee from your presence?
If I ascend to heaven, you are there!
If I make my bed in Sheol, you are there! - I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Henceforth there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, will award to me on that day, and not only to me but also to all who have loved his appearing.
- Sing to God, sing praises to his name;
lift up a song to him who rides through the deserts;
his name is the Lord;
exult before him!
Father of the fatherless and protector of widows
is God in his holy habitation. - If the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit who dwells in you.
- Stand therefore, having fastened on the belt of truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and, as shoes for your feet, having put on the readiness given by the gospel of peace. In all circumstances take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming darts of the evil one.
- Open your mouth for the mute,
for the rights of all who are destitute. - Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you.
- The words of a wise man's mouth win him favor,
but the lips of a fool consume him. - O Lord, in the morning you hear my voice;
in the morning I prepare a sacrifice for you and watch. - Therefore the Lord waits to be gracious to you,
and therefore he exalts himself to show mercy to you.
For the Lord is a God of justice;
blessed are all those who wait for him. - By this we know love, that he laid down his life for us, and we ought to lay down our lives for the brothers.
- And when they bring you to trial and deliver you over, do not be anxious beforehand what you are to say, but say whatever is given you in that hour, for it is not you who speak, but the Holy Spirit.
- But if anyone has the world's goods and sees his brother in need, yet closes his heart against him, how does God's love abide in him?
- I cried to him with my mouth,
and high praise was on my tongue. - Then what if you were to see the Son of Man ascending to where he was before?
- For thus says the One who is high and lifted up,
who inhabits eternity, whose name is Holy:
“I dwell in the high and holy place,
and also with him who is of a contrite and lowly spirit,
to revive the spirit of the lowly,
and to revive the heart of the contrite.”
