- For you have need of endurance, so that when you have done the will of God you may receive what is promised.
- But the Scripture imprisoned everything under sin, so that the promise by faith in Jesus Christ might be given to those who believe.
- Know then in your heart that, as a man disciplines his son, the Lord your God disciplines you.

- And because the midwives feared God, he gave them families.

- Say not, “Why were the former days better than these?”
For it is not from wisdom that you ask this. - Understanding this, that the law is not laid down for the just but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and sinners, for the unholy and profane, for those who strike their fathers and mothers, for murderers, the sexually immoral, men who practice homosexuality, enslavers, liars, perjurers, and whatever else is contrary to sound doctrine, in accordance with the gospel of the glory of the blessed God with which I have been entrusted.
- And divided tongues as of fire appeared to them and rested on each one of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit gave them utterance.
- And he said to all, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me.”
- So God blessed the seventh day and made it holy, because on it God rested from all his work that he had done in creation.
- On the last day of the feast, the great day, Jesus stood up and cried out, “If anyone thirsts, let him come to me and drink.”
Then Jesus, calling out with a loud voice, said, “Father, into your hands I commit my spirit!” And having said this he breathed his last. Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous.
