We (3/4)

  • We ourselves are Jews by birth and not Gentile sinners; yet we know that a person is not justified by works of the law but through faith in Jesus Christ, so we also have believed in Christ Jesus, in order to be justified by faith in Christ and not by works of the law, because by works of the law no one will be justified.
  • But our citizenship is in heaven, and from it we await a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ.
  • So we do not lose heart. Though our outer self is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day.
  • Some trust in chariots and some in horses,
    but we trust in the name of the Lord our God.
  • See what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God; and so we are. The reason why the world does not know us is that it did not know him.
  • No one has ever seen God; if we love one another, God abides in us and his love is perfected in us.
  • And we are witnesses to these things, and so is the Holy Spirit, whom God has given to those who obey him.
  • And this commandment we have from him: whoever loves God must also love his brother.
  • In the path of your judgments,
    O Lord, we wait for you;
    your name and remembrance
    are the desire of our soul.
  • This is the message we have heard from him and proclaim to you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.
  • Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.
  • For since we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so, through Jesus, God will bring with him those who have fallen asleep.
  • And it will be righteousness for us, if we are careful to do all this commandment before the Lord our God, as he has commanded us.
  • In this is love, not that we have loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.
  • If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
  • For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.
  • Of his own will he brought us forth by the word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures.
  • So then, as we have opportunity, let us do good to everyone, and especially to those who are of the household of faith.
  • For as we share abundantly in Christ's sufferings, so through Christ we share abundantly in comfort too.
  • And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.
  • Can anyone withhold water for baptizing these people, who have received the Holy Spirit just as we have?
  • Not only that, but we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope.
  • In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace.
  • Surely he has borne our griefs
    and carried our sorrows;
    yet we esteemed him stricken,
    smitten by God, and afflicted.
  • The Almighty—we cannot find him;
    he is great in power;
    justice and abundant righteousness he will not violate.

And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.
