Simply say whatever is given to you when that time comes, for it will not be you who speak but the Holy Spirit. |
| But when you fast, comb your hair and wash your face. Then no one will notice that you are fasting, except your Father, who knows what you do in private. And your Father, who sees everything, will reward you. | But when you fast, put oil on your head and wash your face, so that the fact that you are fasting will not be obvious to others but only to your Father who is hidden. | Don’t let the excitement of youth cause you to forget your Creator. Honor him in your youth before you grow old and say, “Life is not pleasant anymore.” | Remember your Creator in the days of your youth before the bad times come and the years draw near when you will say, “I take no pleasure in them”. |
| You also must be ready all the time, for the Son of Man will come when least expected. | Therefore, you must also be prepared, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him. |
| After saying this, he was taken up into a cloud while they were watching, and they could no longer see him. | After he said this, he was lifted up as they looked on, and a cloud took him from their sight. |

And a voice from heaven said, “You are my dearly loved Son, and you bring me great joy.” | After John had baptized all the people, and while Jesus was engaged in prayer after also having been baptized, heaven opened and the Holy Spirit descended on him in bodily form like a dove. And a voice came from heaven: “You are my beloved Son; in you I am well pleased.” |
