- And you must commit yourselves wholeheartedly to these commands that I am giving you today. Repeat them again and again to your children. Talk about them when you are at home and when you are on the road, when you are going to bed and when you are getting up.
- But when I am afraid,
I will put my trust in you. - What blessings await you when people hate you and exclude you and mock you and curse you as evil because you follow the Son of Man.
- I thirst for God, the living God.
When can I go and stand before him? - When you go through deep waters,
I will be with you.
When you go through rivers of difficulty,
you will not drown.
When you walk through the fire of oppression,
you will not be burned up;
the flames will not consume you. - Direct your children onto the right path,
and when they are older, they will not leave it. - O Lord, you have examined my heart
and know everything about me.
You know when I sit down or stand up.
You know my thoughts even when I’m far away. - Do not withhold good from those who deserve it
when it’s in your power to help them. - When I refused to confess my sin,
my body wasted away,
and I groaned all day long. - But when you had eaten and were satisfied,
you became proud and forgot me. - Pride leads to disgrace,
but with humility comes wisdom. - When Jesus had tasted it, he said, “It is finished!” Then he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.
- When doubts filled my mind,
your comfort gave me renewed hope and cheer. - How wonderful and pleasant it is
when brothers live together in harmony! - If you look for me wholeheartedly, you will find me.
- Even fools are thought wise when they keep silent;
with their mouths shut, they seem intelligent. - When you become aware of your guilt in any of these ways, you must confess your sin.
- When Jesus heard this, he said, “Healthy people don’t need a doctor—sick people do.”
- When you make a promise to God, don’t delay in following through, for God takes no pleasure in fools. Keep all the promises you make to him.
- I cried out, “I am slipping!”
but your unfailing love, O Lord, supported me. - I will shout for joy and sing your praises,
for you have ransomed me. - And remember, when you are being tempted, do not say, “God is tempting me.” God is never tempted to do wrong, and he never tempts anyone else.
- When we were utterly helpless, Christ came at just the right time and died for us sinners.
- God blesses you when people mock you and persecute you and lie about you and say all sorts of evil things against you because you are my followers.
- When you pray, don’t babble on and on as the Gentiles do. They think their prayers are answered merely by repeating their words again and again.
And now, dear children, remain in fellowship with Christ so that when he returns, you will be full of courage and not shrink back from him in shame.Watch out that you do not lose what we have worked so hard to achieve. Be diligent so that you receive your full reward. Direct your children onto the right path,
and when they are older, they will not leave it.Next verse!With image
