- The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom;
all those who practice it have a good understanding.
His praise endures forever. - In my Father's house there are many dwelling places. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you?
- O God, you are my God, I seek you,
my soul thirsts for you;
my flesh faints for you,
as in a dry and weary land where there is no water. - Better is a little that the righteous person has
than the abundance of many wicked.
For the arms of the wicked shall be broken,
but the Lord upholds the righteous. - When they bring you to trial and hand you over, do not worry beforehand about what you are to say; but say whatever is given you at that time, for it is not you who speak, but the Holy Spirit.
- Little children, you are from God, and have conquered them; for the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.
- But even if you do suffer for doing what is right, you are blessed. Do not fear what they fear, and do not be intimidated.
- And baptism, which this prefigured, now saves you—not as a removal of dirt from the body, but as an appeal to God for a good conscience, through the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
- We ourselves are Jews by birth and not Gentile sinners; yet we know that a person is justified not by the works of the law but through faith in Jesus Christ. And we have come to believe in Christ Jesus, so that we might be justified by faith in Christ, and not by doing the works of the law, because no one will be justified by the works of the law.
- She will bear a son, and you are to name him Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins.
- Now I would remind you, brothers and sisters, of the good news that I proclaimed to you, which you in turn received, in which also you stand, through which also you are being saved, if you hold firmly to the message that I proclaimed to you—unless you have come to believe in vain.
- Because you are precious in my sight,
and honored, and I love you,
I give people in return for you,
nations in exchange for your life. - I, I am he who comforts you;
why then are you afraid of a mere mortal who must die,
a human being who fades like grass?
