Yourselves (2/3)

  • Above all, keep fervent in your love for one another, because love covers a multitude of sins.
  • “For I take no pleasure in the death of anyone who dies,” declares the Lord God. “Therefore, repent and live!”
  • Wives, subject yourselves to your own husbands, as to the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife, as Christ also is the head of the church, He Himself being the Savior of the body.
  • In addition to all these things put on love, which is the perfect bond of unity.
  • See that no one repays another with evil for evil, but always seek what is good for one another and for all people.
  • Conduct yourselves with wisdom toward outsiders, making the most of the opportunity. Your speech must always be with grace, as though seasoned with salt, so that you will know how you should respond to each person.
  • Take care that no one deceives himself. If anyone among you thinks that he is wise in this age, he must become foolish, so that he may become wise.
  • So, as those who have been chosen of God, holy and beloved, put on a heart of compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience.
  • He said to them, “But who do you yourselves say that I am?” Simon Peter answered, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.”
  • But if it is disagreeable in your sight to serve the Lord, choose for yourselves today whom you will serve: whether the gods which your fathers served, which were beyond the Euphrates River, or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you are living; but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.
  • Wives, be subject to your husbands, as is fitting in the Lord. Husbands, love your wives and do not become bitter against them.
  • Brothers and sisters, even if a person is caught in any wrongdoing, you who are spiritual are to restore such a person in a spirit of gentleness; each one looking to yourself, so that you are not tempted as well.
  • Therefore, encourage one another and build one another up, just as you also are doing.
  • Do all things without complaining or arguments; so that you will prove yourselves to be blameless and innocent, children of God above reproach in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you appear as lights in the world, holding firmly the word of life.
  • For through the grace given to me I say to everyone among you not to think more highly of himself than he ought to think; but to think so as to have sound judgment, as God has allotted to each a measure of faith.
  • Therefore, my beloved brothers and sisters, be firm, immovable, always excelling in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.
  • But He said to them, “Beware, and be on your guard against every form of greed; for not even when one is affluent does his life consist of his possessions.”
  • Be devoted to one another in brotherly love; give preference to one another in honor.
  • Your adornment must not be merely the external—braiding the hair, wearing gold jewelry, or putting on apparel; but it should be the hidden person of the heart, with the imperishable quality of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is precious in the sight of God.
  • Therefore, since He has been exalted at the right hand of God, and has received the promise of the Holy Spirit from the Father, He has poured out this which you both see and hear.
  • My Father is glorified by this, that you bear much fruit, and so prove to be My disciples.
  • Do you not know that you are a temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?
  • The end of all things is near; therefore, be of sound judgment and sober spirit for the purpose of prayer.
  • But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh in regard to its lusts.
  • Be of sober spirit, be on the alert. Your adversary, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.

These words, which I am commanding you today, shall be on your heart. And you shall repeat them diligently to your sons and speak of them when you sit in your house, when you walk on the road, when you lie down, and when you get up.
