His plans (4/4)

  • Understand, therefore, that the Lord your God is indeed God. He is the faithful God who keeps his covenant for a thousand generations and lavishes his unfailing love on those who love him and obey his commands.
  • Fear of the Lord is the foundation of true wisdom.
    All who obey his commandments will grow in wisdom.
    Praise him forever!
  • Or have you forgotten that when we were joined with Christ Jesus in baptism, we joined him in his death?
  • But he knows where I am going.
    And when he tests me, I will come out as pure as gold.
    For I have stayed on God’s paths;
    I have followed his ways and not turned aside.
  • I pray that your hearts will be flooded with light so that you can understand the confident hope he has given to those he called—his holy people who are his rich and glorious inheritance.
  • So the Word became human and made his home among us. He was full of unfailing love and faithfulness. And we have seen his glory, the glory of the Father’s one and only Son.
  • For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve others and to give his life as a ransom for many.
  • Then, calling the crowd to join his disciples, he said, “If any of you wants to be my follower, you must give up your own way, take up your cross, and follow me.”
  • God detests the prayers
    of a person who ignores the law.
  • So obey the commands of the Lord your God by walking in his ways and fearing him.
  • The eyes of the Lord watch over those who do right,
    and his ears are open to their prayers.
    But the Lord turns his face
    against those who do evil.
  • We should help others do what is right and build them up in the Lord.
  • The Son radiates God’s own glory and expresses the very character of God, and he sustains everything by the mighty power of his command. When he had cleansed us from our sins, he sat down in the place of honor at the right hand of the majestic God in heaven.
  • For in him we live and move and exist. As some of your own poets have said, ‘We are his offspring.’
  • He gave his life to free us from every kind of sin, to cleanse us, and to make us his very own people, totally committed to doing good deeds.
  • Don’t envy violent people
    or copy their ways.
    Such wicked people are detestable to the Lord,
    but he offers his friendship to the godly.
  • So God created human beings in his own image.
    In the image of God he created them;
    male and female he created them.
  • For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve others and to give his life as a ransom for many.
  • And this same God who takes care of me will supply all your needs from his glorious riches, which have been given to us in Christ Jesus.
  • And he went to the place of the dead. There, in torment, he saw Abraham in the far distance with Lazarus at his side. The rich man shouted, ‘Father Abraham, have some pity! Send Lazarus over here to dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue. I am in anguish in these flames.’
  • No one has ever seen God. But if we love each other, God lives in us, and his love is brought to full expression in us.
  • And the Lord will be king over all the earth. On that day there will be one Lord—his name alone will be worshiped.
  • The rich think of their wealth as a strong defense;
    they imagine it to be a high wall of safety.
  • A wise child brings joy to a father;
    a foolish child brings grief to a mother.
  • So again I say, each man must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband.
