| Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit. | If we live by the Spirit, let’s follow the Spirit as well. |

| This is how we know that we live in him and he in us: He has given us of his Spirit. | By this we know that we remain in Him and He in us, because He has given to us of His Spirit. |

| This is how you can recognize the Spirit of God: Every spirit that acknowledges that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God, but every spirit that does not acknowledge Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you have heard is coming and even now is already in the world. | By this you know the Spirit of God: every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God; and every spirit that does not confess Jesus is not from God; this is the spirit of the antichrist, which you have heard is coming, and now it is already in the world. |
| So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. | But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not carry out the desire of the flesh. |

| In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans. | Now in the same way the Spirit also helps our weakness; for we do not know what to pray for as we should, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words. |
