Chinese (traditional)- Go and learn what this means, ‘I desire mercy, not sacrifice.’ For I have come to call not the righteous but sinners.
- Who can hide in secret places so that I cannot see them? says the Lord. Do I not fill heaven and earth? says the Lord.
- I had eaten no rich food, no meat or wine had entered my mouth, and I had not anointed myself at all, for the full three weeks.
- I know what it is to have little, and I know what it is to have plenty. In any and all circumstances I have learned the secret of being well-fed and of going hungry, of having plenty and of being in need.
- I can do all things through him who strengthens me.
- I am the vine, you are the branches. Those who abide in me and I in them bear much fruit, because apart from me you can do nothing.
- And I tell you, you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not prevail against it.
- But I trusted in your steadfast love;
my heart shall rejoice in your salvation.
I will sing to the Lord,
because he has dealt bountifully with me. - For surely I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord, plans for your welfare and not for harm, to give you a future with hope.
- Even though I walk through the darkest valley,
I fear no evil;
for you are with me;
your rod and your staff—
they comfort me. - I delight in the way of your decrees
as much as in all riches. - When I thought, “My foot is slipping,”
your steadfast love, O Lord, held me up. - For I decided to know nothing among you except Jesus Christ, and him crucified.
- One thing I asked of the Lord,
that will I seek after:
to live in the house of the Lord
all the days of my life,
to behold the beauty of the Lord,
and to inquire in his temple. - Listen! I am standing at the door, knocking; if you hear my voice and open the door, I will come in to you and eat with you, and you with me.
- Because you are precious in my sight,
and honored, and I love you,
I give people in return for you,
nations in exchange for your life. - You call me Teacher and Lord—and you are right, for that is what I am.
- I stretch out my hands to you;
my soul thirsts for you like a parched land. Selah - I have said this to you, so that in me you may have peace. In the world you face persecution. But take courage; I have conquered the world!
- I have come to call not the righteous but sinners to repentance.
- You shall be holy to me; for I the Lord am holy, and I have separated you from the other peoples to be mine.
- With the Lord on my side I do not fear.
What can mortals do to me? - But I do not count my life of any value to myself, if only I may finish my course and the ministry that I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify to the good news of God's grace.
- This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you.
- You have already been cleansed by the word that I have spoken to you.
Take delight in the Lord,
and he will give you the desires of your heart. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your minds, so that you may discern what is the will of God—what is good and acceptable and perfect.Next verse!With image
