If (3/4)

  • Let no one delude himself. If anyone among you considers himself to be wise by worldly standards, he must become a fool in order to be truly wise.
  • If anyone thinks that he is religious but does not restrain his tongue, he is deceiving himself, and his religion is worthless.
  • In much the same manner
will wisdom be sweet to your soul.
If you find it, you will have a future,
and your hope will not be cut off.
  • Do not love the world
or what is in the world.
If anyone does love the world,
the love of the Father is not in him.
  • What will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his very life? Or what can he give in exchange for his life?
  • Now, if you will obey my voice and keep my covenant, you will be my own possession from among all the peoples, for the entire earth is mine.
  • Behold, I am standing at the door, knocking. If one of you hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and dine with that person and that person with me.
  • However, if we live in the light
as he himself is in the light,
then we have fellowship with one another,
and the blood of Jesus his Son
    purifies us from all sin.
  • If we are diligent in observing all of these commandments before the Lord, our God, as he commanded of us, then this will be our righteousness.
  • Jesus replied, “If you wish to be perfect, go, sell your possessions, and give the money to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.”
  • If you, then, despite your evil nature, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will the heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!
  • If you refuse to listen to me
    and do not sincerely resolve
to give glory to my name,
    says the Lord of hosts,
I will send a curse on you,
and I will turn your blessings into a curse.
Indeed, I have already done so
because you have not heeded my warning.
  • Examine me, O God, and know my heart;
test me and understand my thoughts.
See if I follow an evil way,
and guide me on the way to eternity.
  • Let what you heard from the beginning
    remain in you.
If what you heard from the beginning
    remains in you,
then you will remain in the Son
    and in the Father.
  • Bear with one another, and forgive one another if anyone has reason to be offended with another. You must forgive just as the Lord has forgiven you.
  • So if anyone says to you, ‘Behold, he is in the wilderness,’ do not go out there. If they say, ‘Behold, he is in the inner rooms,’ do not believe it. For just as lightning comes from the east and is visible even in the west, so will the coming of the Son of Man be.
  • Does it now appear to you that I am trying to gain the approval of human beings rather than the approval of God? Am I seeking to please people? If I were still trying to please people, I would not be a servant of Christ.
  • If in speaking I use human tongues
    and angelic as well,
    but do not have love,
I am nothing more than a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal.
  • When someone sins and does any of the things that the Lord has forbidden, even if he does not realize he did it, he has still committed an offense and must bear his guilt.
  • However, if the wicked renounce all of the sins that they have committed and keep all my statutes and do what is right and just, they shall surely live; they shall not die.
  • Then Jesus said to those Jews who did believe in him,
“If you remain faithful to my word,
you will truly be my disciples.
    You will know the truth,
and the truth will set you free.”
  • What then should we say? That the Law is sinful? Absolutely not! Yet if it had not been for the Law, I would not have known what sin was. I would not have known what covet is if the Law had not said, “You shall not covet.”
  • For if, while we were enemies, we were reconciled to God through the death of his Son, how much more certain it is that, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.
  • Pay to each person what is rightfully his—taxes to the one to whom taxes are due, tolls to the one to whom tolls are due, respect to the one to whom respect is due, honor to the one to whom honor is due.
  • On the last and greatest day of the feast, Jesus stood up and cried out,
    “If anyone is thirsty,
let him come to me and drink.”

If your right eye causes you to sin, tear it out and throw it away. It is preferable for you to lose one part of your body than to have your whole body thrown into Gehenna.

Bible verse of the day

It is better to be a patient man rather than a warrior,
one who controls his temper rather than one who captures a city.
