- Out of the depths have I cried unto thee, O Lord.
Lord, hear my voice:
let thine ears be attentive
to the voice of my supplications. - Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.
- But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.
- Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.
- This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.
- The Lord is my light and my salvation;
whom shall I fear?
the Lord is the strength of my life;
of whom shall I be afraid? - Be of good courage, and he shall strengthen your heart,
all ye that hope in the Lord. - He will not suffer thy foot to be moved:
he that keepeth thee will not slumber. - But when thou doest alms, let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doeth: That thine alms may be in secret: and thy Father which seeth in secret himself shall reward thee openly.
- Withhold not thou thy tender mercies from me, O Lord:
let thy lovingkindness and thy truth continually preserve me. - Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
- For so hath the Lord commanded us, saying, I have set thee to be a light of the Gentiles, that thou shouldest be for salvation unto the ends of the earth.
- Wait on the Lord: be of good courage,
and he shall strengthen thine heart:
wait, I say, on the Lord. - For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory.
- No man, when he hath lighted a candle, covereth it with a vessel, or putteth it under a bed; but setteth it on a candlestick, that they which enter in may see the light.
- Do all things without murmurings and disputings: That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world; Holding forth the word of life.
- Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?
- Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.
- Teach me to do thy will;
for thou art my God:
thy spirit is good;
lead me into the land of uprightness. - For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth.
- For they got not the land in possession by their own sword,
neither did their own arm save them:
but thy right hand, and thine arm,
and the light of thy countenance, because thou hadst a favour unto them. - Let all your things be done with charity.
- My son, forget not my law;
but let thine heart keep my commandments:
For length of days, and long life,
and peace, shall they add to thee. - But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light.
- Therefore whatsoever ye have spoken in darkness shall be heard in the light; and that which ye have spoken in the ear in closets shall be proclaimed upon the housetops.
