Man healed to walk (4/4)

  • I the Lord am your God; follow my statutes, and be careful to observe my ordinances, and hallow my sabbaths that they may be a sign between me and you, so that you may know that I the Lord am your God.
  • For there is one God; there is also one mediator between God and humankind, Christ Jesus, himself human.
  • He answered, “Have you not read that the one who made them at the beginning ‘made them male and female,’ and said, ‘For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh’? So they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate.”
  • If you follow my statutes and keep my commandments and observe them faithfully, I will give you your rains in their season, and the land shall yield its produce, and the trees of the field shall yield their fruit.
  • Conduct yourselves wisely toward outsiders, making the most of the time. Let your speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how you ought to answer everyone.
  • Then the Lord God said, “See, the man has become like one of us, knowing good and evil; and now, he might reach out his hand and take also from the tree of life, and eat, and live forever”— therefore the Lord God sent him forth from the garden of Eden, to till the ground from which he was taken.
  • Keep these words that I am commanding you today in your heart. Recite them to your children and talk about them when you are at home and when you are away, when you lie down and when you rise.
  • Whoever walks in integrity walks securely,
but whoever follows perverse ways will be found out.
  • One sabbath he was going through the grainfields; and as they made their way his disciples began to pluck heads of grain. The Pharisees said to him, “Look, why are they doing what is not lawful on the sabbath?” And he said to them, “Have you never read what David did when he and his companions were hungry and in need of food? He entered the house of God, when Abiathar was high priest, and ate the bread of the Presence, which it is not lawful for any but the priests to eat, and he gave some to his companions.” Then he said to them, “The sabbath was made for humankind, and not humankind for the sabbath; so the Son of Man is lord even of the sabbath.”
  • God is not a human being, that he should lie,
or a mortal, that he should change his mind.
Has he promised, and will he not do it?
Has he spoken, and will he not fulfill it?
  • Jesus went throughout Galilee, teaching in their synagogues and proclaiming the good news of the kingdom and curing every disease and every sickness among the people.
  • With the Lord on my side I do not fear.
What can mortals do to me?
  • How can young people keep their way pure?
By guarding it according to your word.
  • The fear of others lays a snare,
but one who trusts in the Lord is secure.
  • What is desirable in a person is loyalty,
and it is better to be poor than a liar.
  • This poor soul cried, and was heard by the Lord,
and was saved from every trouble.
  • I, I am he who comforts you;
why then are you afraid of a mere mortal who must die,
a human being who fades like grass?
  • O taste and see that the Lord is good;
happy are those who take refuge in him.
  • There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and of death.
  • A fool's lips bring strife,
    and a fool's mouth invites a flogging.
  • It is better to take refuge in the Lord
than to put confidence in mortals.
  • Just as water reflects the face,
so one human heart reflects another.
  • Know then in your heart that as a parent disciplines a child so the Lord your God disciplines you.
  • Above all, clothe yourselves with love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony.
  • But he answered, “It is written,
‘One does not live by bread alone,
but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.’ ”

Bible verse of the day

But he said to them, “Do not be alarmed; you are looking for Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified. He has been raised; he is not here. Look, there is the place they laid him.”

Why are you cast down, O my soul,
and why are you disquieted within me?
Hope in God; for I shall again praise him,
my help and my God.
