- The one thing I ask of the Lord—
the thing I seek most—
is to live in the house of the Lord all the days of my life,
delighting in the Lord’s perfections
and meditating in his Temple. - Oh, the joys of those who do not
follow the advice of the wicked,
or stand around with sinners,
or join in with mockers. - I have written this to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, so that you may know you have eternal life.
- He guards the paths of the just
and protects those who are faithful to him. - You who love the Lord, hate evil!
He protects the lives of his godly people
and rescues them from the power of the wicked. - Jesus replied, “I assure you, no one can enter the Kingdom of God without being born of water and the Spirit.”
- I am the Lord, the God of all the peoples of the world. Is anything too hard for me?
- Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.
- For the love of money is the root of all kinds of evil. And some people, craving money, have wandered from the true faith and pierced themselves with many sorrows.
- May the words of my mouth
and the meditation of my heart
be pleasing to you,
O Lord, my rock and my redeemer. - Don’t you realize that all of you together are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God lives in you?
- When you become aware of your guilt in any of these ways, you must confess your sin.
- A good person produces good things from the treasury of a good heart, and an evil person produces evil things from the treasury of an evil heart. What you say flows from what is in your heart.
- The Son radiates God’s own glory and expresses the very character of God, and he sustains everything by the mighty power of his command. When he had cleansed us from our sins, he sat down in the place of honor at the right hand of the majestic God in heaven.
- Yet I am confident I will see the Lord’s goodness
while I am here in the land of the living. - The Lord directs the steps of the godly.
He delights in every detail of their lives. - For wives, this means submit to your husbands as to the Lord. For a husband is the head of his wife as Christ is the head of the church. He is the Savior of his body, the church.
- I live because of the living Father who sent me; in the same way, anyone who feeds on me will live because of me.
- Just as you cannot understand the path of the wind or the mystery of a tiny baby growing in its mother’s womb, so you cannot understand the activity of God, who does all things.
- Think about the things of heaven, not the things of earth.
- For he has rescued us from the kingdom of darkness and transferred us into the Kingdom of his dear Son, who purchased our freedom and forgave our sins.
- Some nations boast of their chariots and horses,
but we boast in the name of the Lord our God. - And that water is a picture of baptism, which now saves you, not by removing dirt from your body, but as a response to God from a clean conscience. It is effective because of the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
- The instructions of the Lord are perfect,
reviving the soul.
The decrees of the Lord are trustworthy,
making wise the simple. - Most important of all, continue to show deep love for each other, for love covers a multitude of sins.
