Chinese (traditional)- Those who accepted his message were baptized, and about three thousand were added to their number that day.
- Come back to your senses as you ought, and stop sinning; for there are some who are ignorant of God—I say this to your shame.
- Consequently, you are no longer foreigners and strangers, but fellow citizens with God’s people and also members of his household, built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the chief cornerstone.
- Who is a God like you,
who pardons sin and forgives the transgression
of the remnant of his inheritance?
You do not stay angry forever
but delight to show mercy. - In that day you will say:
“Give praise to the Lord, proclaim his name;
make known among the nations what he has done,
and proclaim that his name is exalted.” - And a highway will be there;
it will be called the Way of Holiness;
it will be for those who walk on that Way.
The unclean will not journey on it;
wicked fools will not go about on it. - For prophecy never had its origin in the human will, but prophets, though human, spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.
- The integrity of the upright guides them,
but the unfaithful are destroyed by their duplicity. - Let love and faithfulness never leave you;
bind them around your neck,
write them on the tablet of your heart.
Then you will win favor and a good name
in the sight of God and man. - How abundant are the good things
that you have stored up for those who fear you,
that you bestow in the sight of all,
on those who take refuge in you. - On hearing this, Jesus said, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick.”
- You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot.
- For the practices of the peoples are worthless;
they cut a tree out of the forest,
and a craftsman shapes it with his chisel.
They adorn it with silver and gold;
they fasten it with hammer and nails
so it will not totter.
Like a scarecrow in a cucumber field,
their idols cannot speak;
they must be carried
because they cannot walk.
Do not fear them;
they can do no harm
nor can they do any good. - Save me, Lord,
from lying lips
and from deceitful tongues. - Jesus replied, “What is impossible with man is possible with God.”
- Do not envy the violent
or choose any of their ways.
For the Lord detests the perverse
but takes the upright into his confidence. - It is better to take refuge in the Lord
than to trust in humans. - May God bless us still,
so that all the ends of the earth will fear him. - A gift opens the way
and ushers the giver into the presence of the great. - All day long he craves for more,
but the righteous give without sparing. - Blessed are those whose ways are blameless,
who walk according to the law of the Lord. - The Lord is with me; I will not be afraid.
What can mere mortals do to me? - Fear of man will prove to be a snare,
but whoever trusts in the Lord is kept safe. - A person may think their own ways are right,
but the Lord weighs the heart. - Two are better than one,
because they have a good return for their labor.
A fool spurns a parent’s discipline,
but whoever heeds correction shows prudence. Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.Next verse!With image
