- Evil people get rich for the moment,
but the reward of the godly will last. - The instructions of the Lord are perfect,
reviving the soul.
The decrees of the Lord are trustworthy,
making wise the simple. - But be sure to fear the Lord and faithfully serve him. Think of all the wonderful things he has done for you.
- Mark out a straight path for your feet;
stay on the safe path. - So Christ has truly set us free. Now make sure that you stay free, and don’t get tied up again in slavery to the law.
- Be careful then, dear brothers and sisters. Make sure that your own hearts are not evil and unbelieving, turning you away from the living God.
- Study this Book of Instruction continually. Meditate on it day and night so you will be sure to obey everything written in it. Only then will you prosper and succeed in all you do.
- But when you ask him, be sure that your faith is in God alone. Do not waver, for a person with divided loyalty is as unsettled as a wave of the sea that is blown and tossed by the wind.
- O Lord, I will honor and praise your name,
for you are my God.
You do such wonderful things!
You planned them long ago,
and now you have accomplished them. - The Sovereign Lord is my strength!
He makes me as surefooted as a deer,
able to tread upon the heights. - Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.
- Dear friends, since God loved us that much, we surely ought to love each other.
- See that no one pays back evil for evil, but always try to do good to each other and to all people.
- Unfailing love, O Lord, is yours.
Surely you repay all people
according to what they have done. - This is a trustworthy saying:
If we die with him,
we will also live with him. - So, dear brothers and sisters, work hard to prove that you really are among those God has called and chosen. Do these things, and you will never fall away. Then God will give you a grand entrance into the eternal Kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
- And so blessing and cursing come pouring out of the same mouth. Surely, my brothers and sisters, this is not right!
- Surely your goodness and unfailing love will pursue me
all the days of my life,
and I will live in the house of the Lord
forever. - For the Scriptures say,
“‘As surely as I live,’ says the Lord,
‘every knee will bend to me,
and every tongue will declare allegiance to God.’” - You must diligently obey the commands of the Lord your God—all the laws and decrees he has given you.
- Give honor to marriage, and remain faithful to one another in marriage. God will surely judge people who are immoral and those who commit adultery.
- But if wicked people turn away from all their sins and begin to obey my decrees and do what is just and right, they will surely live and not die.
- And since we know he hears us when we make our requests, we also know that he will give us what we ask for.
- And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns.
- For you have been called to live in freedom, my brothers and sisters. But don’t use your freedom to satisfy your sinful nature. Instead, use your freedom to serve one another in love.
